(2). thousands of families were killed and many children were left without parents. ability goalsenable the ss to learn some important patterns.emotional goalsenable the ss to know more about earthquakesteaching difficult and important points. teaching methods learn the language points through situations given and practice,cooperative learning and speakingclass-exercise1、trap 阅读下列句子,注意trap的意思及用法。1) the elevator broke down and we were trapped inside (it). 2) i must take no notice of their politeness or kindness which was designed to trap me into giving information.3) if were lucky, the thief will fall right into our trap.4) to break out of the trap they need help from the government.归纳 trap可以作 动词,意为:使陷入困境(句1)。可以构成短语trap sb. into (doing) sth.,表示“使中计;使陷入圈套”(句2)。也可以作名词,意为:陷阱(句3);困境(句4)。2. shockhe was shocked at her smoking. v(使)震惊,使惊愕whoever touches that wire can get badly shocked. v. 使受电击it gave me quite a shock to be told i was seriously ill.n. 震惊shock有两种分词转化成的形容词形式:shocking令人震惊的(用来修饰物);shocked震惊的(用来修饰人)。有类似用法的词有很多,如:interest, frighten, excite, puzzle, satisfy等。辨析shock, astonish, surprisehock vt./n: to cause usually unpleasant or angry surprise to (sb.): 震惊,打击,吃惊程度最大,后面常跟介词at/by构成词组be shocked at/by,表示“对吃惊”,或接不定式表示原因,也可作名词,意为“震动,打击”: eg.he was shocked by what you said.the news gave me a great shock. astonish vt./n: surprise greatly. 语气比surprise要强,含有令人难以置信: eg.i was astonished to see him in tibet. the news astonished everyone. surprise vt./n: (feeling caused by) sth. sudden or unexpected: 最普通用词,意为“使惊讶,使吃惊”,含有“意想不到”之意。eg. i was surprised to see the great changes in my hometown. his failure didnt cause much surprise (was not a great surprise.) 3. congratulation n 1)(with on)an expression of joy for sb. success, good fortune, luck, etc. : 庆贺,祝贺,常用复述形式,并与介词on搭配,构成短语congratulations on sth. /doing . 2)congratulations ( on your winning the races)!恭喜(你获得了胜利)!i offered my congratulations on his success. 3)congratulate v.
