Ask the students what a cultural relic is and if some of them can give some examples?2. Ask the students what the characteristics of cultural relics are?Step II. Pre-readingDiscuss the following questions in groups.1. Have you ever seen a piece of amber? What do you know about it?2. Look at the title and the picture of the reading passage and predict what it is about.Step III. Reading Task 1. Skim the passage to see if you were right and answer the following questions.1. Who gave the Amber Room to the Russian people?2. What does the text tell us about Amber?3. How long did it take to make the Amber Room?4. When and why was the Amber Room given to Peter the Great?5. What happened to the Amber Room during the Word War II?Task 2.
