(if possible, teachers show some pictures to ss) 3. if time enough, teacher introduce the background of these cultural relics( pyramids, the great wall, stonehenge) 4. group work: teacher show some pictures like the following ones and let ss talk about them. named after the apostle st. peter. it was built largely with forced peasant labor in the location of the swedish fortress of nyen and later nteborg, in the marshlands where the river neva drains into the gulf of finland. it was founded to become the new capital of russia, ensuring russias connections with the west.2.reading let the ss read the text carefully and finish the exercise 2 in page 46. let the ss read the passage again and finish the exercise 1 in page 46. play the tape and let them follow it, paying attention to the intonation. 3. language points1 .peter the great, like his country, was strong and proud. 皮得大帝像它的国家一样强壮且傲慢。proud adj.意为“自豪的,骄傲的,爱面子的”。常用于 “be proud of ”短语中,意为“为而自豪、为而骄傲”。也可做定语或者表语。例如:he knows he is wrong, but he is too proud to admit it.他知道自己错了,但是他太爱面子而不肯承认。they are all proud of studying at qinghua university. 他们以在清华大学学习为荣。其名词形式为pride.常用于take pride in 句式中,意为“对.感到自豪”。例如:the parents took great pride in the success of their children.这些家长对他们孩子的成功感到自豪。2. pieces of the places that had been hidden before the germans came could now be used to rebuild the city and its culture.句中used为use的过去分词,be used 是被动语态,后面接动词不定式,表示用途,意为“被用来做”。例如:the watch is used to tell the time.手表被用来显示时间。used to do , be used to表示“过去常常做某事情(但现在不做了)”例如:he used to play cards a lot.他过去经常玩牌。(暗指现在不玩了)注意; used to do 的否定式有两种:didnt use to do 和used not to do (缩写形式为usednt to do )。used to do 的疑问式有两种:美国人常常用diduse to ?英国人常用used to do?what did you use to do when you were in the army? 当你在军队时,你经常干什么?-used he to go to the market every sunday?-no, he usednt to. -过去,他经常在周日去市场吗?-不,不经常去。be used to +名词/ 动词-ing,表示“习惯于什么或者习惯于做什么”,be动词也可用become, get代替。例如:tom is used to getting up early in the morning.汤姆习惯清晨早起。she has become used to looking after herself. 她已经习惯了自己照管自己。the smokers get used to nicotine. 吸烟者习惯了尼古丁。3.it was under attack for 900 days, but the people of the city never gave in. 敌军攻打这座城市900天,但这座城市的人民绝不投降。attack n.意为“攻打,攻击”。常用于 “be under attack”“在攻击下,受到攻击”和“make an attack upon”“向攻击”两个短语中。例如:the enemy has been under attack for more than two months. 敌人已受到两个多月的攻击。the red armymem made an attack upon the enemy. 红军向敌人展开进攻。attack也可做及物动词,意为“攻击,抨击”。例如:many papers began to attack her.许多报纸开始攻击她。give in与give up辨析give in 表示“让步、屈服”之意,做不及物动词,后面不能跟宾语。如果要表示“向某人让步或屈服”的意思,用give in to sb.结构。而give up表示“放弃”之意,可用做及物动词,也可用做不及物动词。例如:liu hulan would rather die than give in.刘胡兰宁死不屈。they have given in to my opinion. 他们已经接受了我的看法。the boy had to give up school because his family was too poor. 这个孩子因为家庭太穷而不得不辍学。i cant answer this question, i give up.我回答不出这个问题,我放弃。 4. post-reading 1. finish the exercise1 and exercise in the book and check the answer with ss. 2. finish the following show)现在完成时的被动语态现在完成时的被动语态由havehas beenved构成,其中ved为过去分词,表示被动。 在使用现在完成时的被动语态时要注意以下两点: 1过去分词前有两个助动词:havehas和been。 2必须表示被动。 主动语态与被动语态的转换 主动语态的宾语作被动语态的主语。 be动词按新主语的人称、数而变化。 be动词时态依照主动语态动词的时态。 be动词后面接原来动词的过去分词形式。 利用介词by, 表示动作的发出者。在无关紧要时, by短语可略去不说。 by之后用原来主语的宾格形式。 修饰语(包括定语、状语)不变。 有助动词时, 保留助动词, 加上被动语态。3. practice (slide show)将下列句子变成被动语态。1. he has spent a lot of money on the computer.2. have at least a foreign language.掌握至少一门外语是非常重要的。its necessary to finish the work before this sunday.星期天之前完成这项工作是必要的。now it is possible to fly to the moon in a spaceship.现在乘坐宇宙飞船到月球并不是不可能的事了。在本句型的后面又加了一个without doing结构,也可当作一个句型来记,意为“不干而干是的“。例如:it is impossible to learn english well without studying hard.不努力学习而要学好英语是不可能的。its very difficult to find out the
