It comes on 31 October. In some ways I think its a funny day for children because they have lots of interesting activities to do, such as dressing themselves up like ghosts. Look, just like what Hobo is doing.2. Listening to the tape and answer the questions:a. Whats Hobo doing?b. Why is Hobo dressing himself up a ghost?c. What does he dress up as later?Step 4 Something about some festivalsChristmas is so popular that nearly people all over the world like it and enjoy celebrating it from 24 December to 25 December. Thanksgiving Day is also important to Westerners. On this day, people show their thanks to the ones who have ever gave help to them. Its a meaningful day.China is an old country with a long history, festivals are parts of our culture. We have many traditional festivals, such as the Chinese New Year, the Mid-Autumn Day and the Dragon Boat Festival. Can you tell me something about these three festivals?Step 5 Discussion How do people celebrate it? Example:For different festivals people have different ways to celebrate. For example, when the Mid-Autumn Day comes, Chinese people will get together in a family group and have a big dinner. It is a lantern for us to see clearly at night, and this lantern is made out of a pumpkin. Its a pumpkin lantern. At Halloween, people dress up and wear masks or paint their faces. They try to make themselves different from usual, because its a special day.At Halloween, childrens favourite game is to play “trick or treat”. Have you heard about it? Children will knock on peoples doors and ask for some candy as a treat. If they do not get the treat, they will play a trick on people.On the evening of October 31, people will have a party to celebrate the festival. What do you think they will do at the party?Millies penfriend Wendy lives in the USA. She writes a letter to Millie to tell her something about Halloween.
