The South China Sea borders the place from the northwest, the project called “Serenity Coast” extends towards the southeast. The site itself is partially covered by the Sea therefore it became possible to create architecture on top of the actual water surface. One of the main themes of the design was to express the architectural connection between Sea and Land, and to benefit from the scenery towards the Sea.本案位于半山半岛北部的海滩。西北侧与南海相望，东南面的半山半岛项目缓缓展开。基地的一部分被海水包围，可以计划在海面上进行施工建设。海洋和陆地以何种方式连接，如何取得眺望海景的最佳角度，这是本次设计的主题。Three elements have been arranged on the design area incorporating the water surface: Performance Center on the shore, Art Museum upon the Sea and a Water Pool in-between.The Art Museum on the seaside and the Performance Center on the beachside shows an intertwined composition, and they form a unified cultural zone with the Water Pool occupying the intermediate space.Leading towards the Art Museum, a single path crosses the Performance Center, which also serves as the main entrance for the whole cultural zone. The Water Pool shows visual continuity with the Sea and composes the landscape for water and architecture. The Art Museum, which has an arch-shaped silhouette, appears to float above the water and symbolically represents the “Gate to the World”. When the museum is seen from the sea, it becomes a gate to Hainandao; when seen from the land, it is sensed as a gate to the rest of the world representing symbolically their relation.在包含一部分海面的、沿着海岸线展开的规划用地上，我们设计了3个要素。一个是陆地一侧的演出中心，一个是海面上的美术馆，以及2者之间的人工水面。我们规划将建在海面的美术馆和海滨的演出中心互相联结起来，和2者之间的展开的人工水面一起形成一个文化的区域。演出中心由一条道路直通美术馆，成了全体文化区域的入口。人工水面与大海在视觉上连续在了一起，形成了一个水与建筑的景观空间。我们把有着拱形轮廓，看上去像浮在海面上的美术馆定义为“世界之门”。从海面看美术馆，就像通往海南岛的大门。而从陆地这边看去又像通往广阔世界的大门。象征性地表达了海南岛与世界的连接的深层含义。The Art Museum is envisioned as the landmark of Hainandao symbolizing the “Gate of the Globe” by connecting Hainandao to the rest of the world. The Museum building is a 108-meter diameter round shaped unique architecture that floats right upon the sea. The overall volume is raised up into midair through arches establishing a clear gaze underneath towards the water. This arch is the “Gate of the Globe”, that bestows us the possibility to increase our imaginative power on the remote World ahead.美术馆作为海南岛的地标，让人联想到世界与海南岛连接的“世界之门”的概念。美术馆是一个直径为100米的圆形形体，在海上矗立的特别建筑。整体形态如同从海面涌起，拱形的体态让视线可以穿过。这个拱形作为“世界之门”，也许能充分地激发我们对世界的想象力。The building contains a 1000-seat Grand Hall, a 300-seat Multipurpose Theater and a Conference Center within its 90x90x30 m rectangular volume. The simple box-shaped volume is divided according to functional needs by so called “Prisms” - sharp longitudinal spaces with a triangular section. The high contrast shadows cast by the strong sunlight of Hainandao and reflections of the prism facades define a suitable gate to welcome people to the p
