Teaching Objectives1.Language Objectives(1) The key words and phrasesHead , eye , head towards, with/ without clothes on, catch a cold (2) The key sentence structuresa) When Zhou Kais mother saw him heading towards the front door without a jacket on.b)Im lucky because I dont have a sweet tooth.c)I was stupid enough to play football in the rain.2. Ability Objectives(1) Enable students to improve their reading skills as well as listening , speaking and writing abilities.(2) Make students learn and master the new words about health.(3) Broaden students horizons and obtain something useful from the text.3. Moral Objectives(1) Help students to learn that health is extremely crucial for them.(2) Make students develop an awareness of paying more attention to their health in daily life.Important Points1. Master two important reading skillsskimming(the gist)scanning(specific information)2. Learn how to talk about health in English.3. Know the important words, phrases and sentence patterns of Zhou Kai(1)III. Difficult Points1. How to comprehend the text .2. How to transfer students role in classparticipating in the teachers teaching actively.3. How to make students take an interest in class.4. Help students master important points .Teaching Methods1. Task-based and Communicative Approach2. Teaching aids: multi-media, PPT, a blackboard, chalks, a blackboard brush.Teaching ProceduresStep Warming-up(5 mins) 1.Do an activity: use word seriesstudents construct the series following an example.Example: fruit: apple, pear, banana, mango, strawberry body : Sports: Step Pre-reading (4min) In this step, I will first ask them to look at the picture of Zhou Kai and then guess what kind of boy Zhou Kai is.Step III Reading Zhou Kai (1) (20 mins)1. Fast reading (skimming)(1) Ask students to skim through the passage and let them make a summary.(2) Give them my understanding of this textIt tells us the way how Zhou Kais mother looks after him. (3) Ask three students to do a role-play for the passage.(4) Ask students to find the answers to the questions in Activity 2 a)Why is Zhou Kai mother anxious?Because he is going out to play football in the rain.b)What does she think will happen?She thinks Zhou Kai will catch a bad cold.c)What does she ask him to do?She asks him to at least put on a jacket.2. Careful Reading Explain the language pointsWhen Zhou Kais mother saw him heading towards the front door without a jacket on, she eyed him anxiously. head, eye ( nouns as verbs) head + for /forwards + direction : to move in a particular directioneye : to look at sth carefully e.g: After work, he headed straight for the bookshop.The child eyed me with surprise. be going to : used for planned decisions (the decisins made before the moment of speaking) will:used for spontaneous decisions (the decisions made at the moment of speaking)e.g: She is going to lend us her book.
