Ability objects: (1) Train students reading ability.(2) Enable students to understand and talk about places.3. Moral Objects:Love our country.Make a good use of our strong points.Teaching key points:The usage of fractions,present perfect tense.Teaching difficult points:The usage of fractions.Teaching methods:Reading method and inductive method.Teaching aids:PPT and a computer for multimedia use.Teaching procedures:Step1.RevisionCheck the homework:(1) Ask two students to recite three sentences in the listening material of 1b and 1c.(2) Ask students to do a dictation of seven words.(from fox to Night Safari) Step2.Lead-inShow some pictures of Singapore and let the students guess what place it is.And take the development of Singapore as an example to tell the students the importance of changing the mind and making a good use of ones strong points.Step3.Presentation(1) Ask the students to read the topic of the text and the teacher help them to find the attributive clause in the sentence and help them to translate the topic.(2) Ask the students to read the new words on page 70 three times.(3) Let the students to read the passage for 5minutes and answer the following questions:1. What language can we speak in Singapore?2. What kind of food can we eat in Singapore?3. Can we watch the animals at night in Singapore?4. When is the best time to visit Singapore?5. Is it far from China?Step4 Practice(1) Five minutes later ,ask five students to write down their answers on the black board and check the answers with the whole class.And make them understand these are reasons why many Chinese want to visit Singapore and this reading method help them to master a reading skill named making notes.(2) Explain the meaning of the first paragraph.For some difficult sentences ,the teacher explain some words meanings and usages and then ask the students to translate the sentences by themselves according to the teachers explanation.(3) Present three quarters on the blackboard and tell the students that it can also be written as “three quarters” and take it as an example to teach the usage of fractions .Give three pairs of fractions for the students to practice :1/5,2/5;1/3,2/3;1/6,4/6.When the students can read and write the fractions by themselves ,the teacher shows the usage of fractions on the screen.At the same time ,point out two special usages in red writing.Step5 Consolidation Write several fractions on the blackboard and ask two students to translate them into English and write down on the blackboard.Step6 Homework 1. Recite the first paragraph.2. Translate the following fractions into English :1/4,4/5,3/7,5/9,6/8.3.
