Ss can master how to use the conjunction “when”.Ability Objectives:Get the main idea by reading the title and the first sentences.Moral Objectives:Cherish life, cherish today.Teaching key points: Ss are able to master how to talk about past events by using the key words and the target language.Teaching difficult points: Ss can express how to describe their experiences with the past progressive tense.Teaching methods: Listening and speaking; Task-based method; Pairwork; Groupwork.Teaching aids: Textbook , A computer for multi-media use.Teaching procedures: Teachers activitiesStudents activitiesStep :Warming up and Leading in.1.Greeting.2.Ask them to enjoy the speech made by Dr. Martin Luther King.Ss greet the teacher and listen to the speech named I Have A Dream.设计意图(Intention): 利用热情的问候尽快拉近与学生的距离,最大程度消除学生的紧张感与陌生感。学生欣赏马丁路德金的演讲,感受其民权运动领袖的魅力和追求平等的主张。Step . Background Introduction1.Show the picture of Dr. Martin Luther King.2.Show the picture of The World Trade Center.Ss describe the great man they know of.Ss tell us the truth what they know about.设计意图(Intention): 本环节使学生更好地了解美国民权运动领袖马丁路德金和震惊世界的911恐怖袭击事件,课件运用动画将双子塔遭到袭击的过程演示了出来,残酷性震撼了学生,为后面的环节做好了铺垫。看图说话可以培养学生快速捕捉图片信息的能力,同时达到有效预热重点词汇及目标语言的目的。Step . Practice1.Have Ss answer the questions: What was/were sb. doing when the plane hit the World Trade Center?2.Have Ss describe how they feel when they are in trouble or in danger.Ss answer the questions according to the picture of a family.Ss practice the sentence instruction: Sandy was phoning when the plane hit the World Trade Center.Ss describe how they feel when they are in trouble or in danger by using adjectives.设计意图(Intention): 本环节练习的是本节课的重点句型:Sandy was phoning when the plane hit the World Trade Center. 通过问答形式和看图说话形式练习此句型;情境设置为世贸中心遇袭瞬间,图片呈现一家六口当时正在各自做着某事,内容上起到承上启下的作用。并且自然过渡到人物的感情。Step . Reading1.Introduce the reading skills2.Play the tape and have them read the text .3.Ask some questions to help them understand the text better.4.Encourage them to the tasks in 2c and 2d.Ss look at the pictures, the title and the first sentence of each paragraph to help them get the main idea as soon as possible.Ss read the text aloud.Ss go through the text again to find the details.Ss work in groups to finish the tasks.设计意图(Intention): 本环节重点一是介绍阅读策略,协助学生尽快抓住阅读文章主旨;二是通过任务设置,协助学生更好地理解文章内容,兼顾主旨和细节。最后一个环节采用小组合作的形式调动学生完成任务2a和2d,让学生合作探究中再次熟悉课文,再次体会,在历史的瞬间,小人物们的感受。Step .Revision1.Encourage them to spell the words and phrases as quickly as possible.2.Encourage them to complete the text as fast as possible.Challenge: Translate the words and phrases as quickly as possible.Fill in the blanks to finish the text.设计意图(Intention): 本环节通过快节奏的练习,一方面训练学生的快速反应能力,另一方面培养学生认真倾听的良好习惯,达到有效复习和巩固重点词汇及目标语言的目的,温故知新。在本环节,学生提升了语言输出能力。Step . PracticeTask1:Have them practice the key sentence instructions in pairs.Task 2.Introdue the latest attacks in Belgium capital of Brussels on Mar.22.Task3: Have Ss watch seven videos about the moment they will never forget.Role play a conversation: Suppose one is Kate Smith(A) and the other is Robert Allen(B).Ss may cherish life and today.Ss watch videos carefully and answer the questions.Ss learn how to express what sb.was/were doing when sth.happened.设计意图(Intention): 本环节以任务型教学为依据,通过设计角色扮演、录制视频难忘的瞬间,小组PK等教学手段,激发学生在用中学的热情。角色扮演新颖在将课文中出现的原本不相干的两位小人物Kate Smith和 Robert Allen拉在一起做对话;中间插入最近发生的比利时恐袭事件,唤起学生珍惜现在和平生活的意识;观看实验班视频:七位同学七段难忘的瞬间,并回答问题,易抓住同学们的注意力,促进本年级学生的相互了解,再次突破本节课的重难点。Step . Group work1.Have them talk about the day they will never forget in groups.2.Encourage them to make a speech one by one.Talk with their partners about the day they will never forget. Then give a report about it.设计意图(Intention): 本环节学生围绕他们自己的难忘瞬间主题,先在小组交流,后在全班做相关即席演讲,演讲环节增进了解。分享经历,分享感悟,使主题升华:珍视生命,珍视今天! Step . Homework1.Recite the key vocabularies and useful expressions in this class.2.Make a new dialogue by using what you have learned.3.Prepare your own speech about the day they will never forget.附:Blackboard Design:Unit5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came? Kate was working when a plane just hit the World Trade Center.Record after teaching:1.英语阅读教学渗透心理健康教育的契机 本节课情境设置于广阔的历史背景中,带着感情回顾历史瞬间事件,体现人文精神。读本中暴力的恐怖事件与学生享有的安定和平的生活对比鲜明,使学生体会到司空见惯的“平常”是多么美好,分享感悟:珍视生命,珍视今天!2.联系生活实际,帮助学生了解自我 生长在这和平年代的学生,需要了解历史上发生的社会灾难,更需要面对生活中身边的灾难。实验班学生在视频中有提到目击跳楼现场的,有经历亲人去世的,有受伤送医的,有回忆汶川地震兰州有震感的那天,既感受到了人们的焦躁,也看到邻里之间的互助,既感慨生命的脆弱,也感受到了人与人之间的真情。他们思考思考生存的压力,思考人性光辉与黑暗,从而不断地认识自我,更好地认识他人,进而更深入地认识自我、激励自我、发展自我和超越自我。3.真实情境,看待问题角度更加多元 人本主义心理学之父”卡尔罗杰斯认为要使学生全身心地投入学习活动,就必须让学生面临他们个人的意义的或有关的问题。明智的做法是要发现那些对学生来说是现实的,同时又与所教课程相干的问题,让他们经历将来会成为他们真正问题的情境。学生们以亲历者身份回忆和谈论事件,无论是史实,还是身边的挫折和灾难,都引起了学生的共鸣,体验到实际问题、社会问题、伦理和哲学问题,带出了内涵丰富的讨论话题,看待问题角度更
