Module 4 A Social Survey My NeighbourhoodI. 教学内容分析本模块以A Social Survey My Neighborhood为话题,通过介绍学生自己的居住地或熟悉的城市展开。以对话形式,介绍了旅游城市厦门的概况,掌握相关新词汇,以及就学生自己熟悉的社区这一话题发表自己的观点,通过社会实践写一份调查报告。培养学生关心社会的主人翁意识和社会责任感。Introduction 部分介绍了与建筑、居住地及某个地方有关的词汇,以及两篇介绍学生家乡的小短文,通过三个活动,使学生可以初步熟悉这些词的意义,为以后的各项学习活动做好准备。Reading and Vocabulary 部分是本模块的主要内容,通过一个对话来介绍了厦门市的地理位置、气候、城市概况。围绕着课文,设计了四个与课文内容和词汇有关的练习。通过这些练习,学生可以熟悉课文内容并学会使用与介绍人们的居住地有关词汇,并培养学生的快速阅读能力,以及对词汇的认读和应用能力。Grammar 包括两个部分,第一部分是通过分析句意了解现在完成时的用法之一:过去发生的动作或事件对现在的影响和联系,并能独立地完成书上的练习;第二部分是学习两类不同的动词(延续性动词和非延续性动词)在现在完成时中的用法,要求学生能辨别它们之间的不同并能正确地使用。Listening and Vocabulary 部分是两篇关于社区状况介绍的听力材料。在训练听力之前,有一个词汇练习,让学生先熟悉材料当中出现的一些新词,并能通过此部分来猜测听力材料的主要内容;在听力的过程中,着重训练学生抓住文章大意和数据信息的能力;最后配有一个听后活动,让学生进行口头方面的训练,进一步熟悉听力材料,达到学以致用的目的。Pronunciation 部分通过听节选于听力材料中的重读词着手,要求学生掌握句子中哪些词该重读,体会重读体现的情感态度,并能正确朗读,规范学生的语音语调。Writing部分通过看图说话,让学生先自行说说该怎么描绘一个地方,然后再通过范例对比,让学生体会如何才能较好地描述一个地方,并掌握怎样在文章和句子中运用but和and,从而提高学生的英语写作能力。Everyday English 部分让学生通过做选择题来学习掌握七个来自于听力材料的日常用语,要求学生明确其含义,从而达到会在真实语境中正确使用的目的。Function and Speaking 部分通过问题导入的形式介绍了交际功能中指示方向和地点(showing position and direction)语句,要求学生在回答问题过程中练习怎样指示方向及地点,并能在对话练习中熟练运用。Cultural Corner部分是一篇介绍西欧农村生活变化的文章,通过阅读本部分内容,使学生了解一些西方国家社会生活的真实面,并能就此向周围的同学介绍一个地方。还有利于拓展学生的国际视野。Task部分要求学生调查自己所住地区的情况,并用英语做一个报告,从而锻炼学生的语言综合运用和社会实践能力。增强他们的社会责任感。Module File部分有助于学生对本模块学习内容进行归纳,对自己的学习进行反思和检验。II. 教学重点和难点1. 教学重点(1) 掌握一些描述地方的词汇(2) 学习现在完成时的用法,并与一般过去时略作比较(3) 学会如何指示方向和地点2. 教学难点(1) 听懂对介绍某个地区特征的文章; (2) 运用现在完成时表达变化的句子,说出含有指示方向和地点等功能的句子(3) 理解现在完成时所给予的信息(4) 描述或介绍居住地或熟悉的城市 III. 教学计划 本单元分五个课时:第一课时:Introduction, Function and Speaking, Cultural Corner第二课时:Reading and Vocabulary第三课时:Grammar 1第四课时:Listening and Vocabulary, Everyday English, Grammar 2第五课时:Writing, Task, Module FilePart one Introduction, Function and Speaking, Cultural CornerTeaching aims1. Pair Work. We have known each other for more than one month but how much do you know each other? Do you know where your deskmates live? If so, please tell me what you know. If not, please get the information immediately. (Allow them 2 minutes to talk about their living condition.)2. (Group Work) Just now you all mentioned some buildings. Group work. Ss are divided into groups of four. Each group is supposed to read through each part, and then discuss them. That was the first time I had seen a snake.(3) but this is one of the most attractive places Ive been to.但这是我到过的最吸引人的地方之一。 Eg This is the best tea I have ever drunk注意下列两种说法的区别:(sb) have been to a place: (某人)到过某地(该人现已不在那个地方)(sb) have gone to a place: (某人)已去了某地(该人不在说话现场(4) Its so lively, and every one seems so friendly. lively: 活泼的,有生气的,用做定语或表语,可以指人或物 Eg I find the girl has a lively mind. 辨析 live: 活的,活生生的,有生命的,现场直播(做定语,放在被修饰的名词前) Eg Have you caught a live fish in the river? There is a live basketball match at 9:45 tonight. living: 活的,健在的,现行的(作表语或定语)Eg Ba Jin is regarded as one of the best living writers. alive: 活的,有生命的(作表语,后置定语或补足语,作表语的时候,可与living互换)Eg He was alive / living when he was sent to the hospital.(5) I feel very fortunate living here. 生活在这里我感到很幸运。(sb) feel fortunate (in) doing sth (某人)因有机会做某事而感到幸运Eg I feel fortunate (in) working with you.(6) Whats the difference among the following sentences? You live in the northwest of Xiamen. (in: 范围之内) You live to the northwest of Xiamen. (to: 范围之外的,不接壤) You live on the coast of the sea. (on:范围之内,可指接壤,也可指在河畔)(7) Pretty hot and wet in the summer, but it can be quite cold in winter. 注意:二者都可以用作副词,意为“相当、很”,但用法上有所不同。Pretty通常用于口语,放在被修饰的词前面。Quite可以直接修饰行为动词,放在其前面;当名词前有another, a few等修饰语时,只能用quite;与不定冠词连用时,放在不定冠词的前面。 Eg It was pretty/quite cold last night. She quite agreed with us. Liu Xiang is quite a good athlete.(8) Sounds OK to me. / That sounds great. Sound在此处作连系动词,后跟形容词作表语,无被动语态。有类似用法的连系动词还有look, smell, taste, feel, get, turn, become等。(9) You dont really see tourists where I live. 我住的地方你其实是看不见游客。 此句是where引导的地点状语从句, 意为“在地方”。 Eg Where there is a will, there is a way. Put the book where it was!(10) Theyve put up a lot of high-rise building recently. put up有以下及中含义: build Eg Have you put up the tent? put up: to offer for sale Eg She is putting her house up for sale. put up: raise ones hand Eg Put up your hand.(11) Now were leaving the business district and approaching the harbour. be + V-ing:用现在进行时表示将来,往往表示:“意图”、“打算”、“安排”、常用于人。有此类用法的词还有come, go, start, arrive, leave, stay等。 Eg Im leaving tomorrow. Are you staying here till next week?(12) So they tell me. 他们就是这样告诉我的。So在倒装句中的不同意义: so + 助动词B: A怎么样,B也怎么样 B助动词so: A让B去做某事,B按A的要求去做了 so + A + 助动词: A确实怎么样相关 either/nor +助动词+B: A不怎么样,B也不怎么样如前一句中谓语既有肯定,又有否定,应用So it is/was with B或It is/was the same with B。2. Pair Work. Vocabulary: Ask the Ss to finish Activity 3 & 4 on page 33. (Call back the answers after several minutes.)3. Group Work. Let Ss raise some questions about understanding the passage.Step 4 Homework1. Try to retell the conversation by the key words you just noted down.2. Prepare for the Grammar 1 and 2.Part three Grammar 1Teaching aims1. To get Ss to have knowledge of this grammar point: Present perfect tense; 2. Ask two students to retell the conversation. Use the key words.2. Now, lets do the competition. Try your best to find out the sentences using present perfect tense from the conversation which we have learnt yesterday. The more you write down, the higher score you will get.Step 2 Grammar 11. (Individual Work) Ask Ss to say out the sentences using present perfect tense, and then ask some questions according to the sentences. (1) Its been six years since we last saw each other, you know. (2) This is the first time Ive visited your hometown. (3) Ive seen quite a lot of China. Ive visited some beautiful cities. (4) Theyve just completed it. (5) Theyve put up a lot of high-rise buildings recently. (6) My wifes just bought a beautiful dress from one of the shops there. (7) A friends told me about a nice little fish restaurant near here.2. (Pair Work) Ask Ss to summarize when to use present perfect tense. We were friends for about six years. (我们过去是朋友,现在是不是,没有说明。) We have been friends for about six years. (结果对现在有影响:我们现在仍是朋友。)Suggested answers:现在完成时的用法之一:过去发生的动作对现在产生的影响。人们使用现在完成时,并不关心动作何时发生,只关心这个动作和现在有无联系或对现在产生的影响。但是一般过去时则把注意力放在过去某时发生的动作。现在完成时与for或since引起的短语连用时,表示从过去开始的动作或状态延续至今;而一般过去时与for引起的短语连用时,只指过去的动作或状态在过去延续了多长时间。一般过去时通常与表过去某时刻的时间状语连用,如last night, yesterday, last year, three weeks ago等;而现在完成时所带的时间状语包括说话时在内或与说话时非常接近,如today, these days, recently, just等。3. (Pair Work) Ask Ss to finish Activity 2 on page 34.4. (Group Work) Ask Ss to tell his / her partners about an interesting place that he / she has been to. Tell him / her when you went and what you did there. And ask if he / she has been there. Try to use the present perfect tense.Step 3 Practice1.
