A Fairy Tale:Hansel and Gretel I. The Analysis of Teaching Materials1. Status and FunctionThis class is about a story between a brother Hansel, a sister Gretel, their stepmother and a witch. It can help students know how to read English fairy tales.2Three-dimensional Teaching Targets(1) Knowledge Goalsa. Teach students some new words: forest, pebble, overhear, starve, frightened, confused, breadcrumb, abandonb. Some important sentences in this fairy tale.(2) Ability GoalsHelp students improve their abilities of reading and watching English fairy tales.(3) Emotion Goals Help students to have a better understanding of English culture. 3. Teaching Important Points:(1) Make students to master the new words.(2) Help students to know how to enjoy a fairy tale .4. Teaching Difficult Points:Make the students know the main idea of this fairy tale.II. Learning Strategies1. Analysis of StudentsIts commonly known that students are interested in fairy tales such as Snow White, The Emperors New Clothes and so on. In this class,I try to make students feel easy in my class. Then they will be more active. At the same time, the students may develop confidence in themselves. 2. Learning StrategiesAccording to their psychological characteristics and perceptive experiences, they may learn English autonomously and cooperatively under the various situations I created. That is learning by doing, learning in doing and learning for doing. III. Teaching Methods1. Teaching PredictionIntegrating the teaching methods with students characteristics, although there may be some difficulties for the students to read the new words correctly, Im sure my students will be able know the main idea of this fairy tale and act it out in the end.IV. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Lead-in1. Ask students if they like watching fairy tales then introduce some popular fairy tales to them to arose their interest.Step 2 Presentation 1. Tell students the main characters and some new words in this fairy tale. 2. Show the first part of this fairy tale to students and then ask them to answer two questions: 1) Why did their stepmother want to abandon them? 2) Did their father agree with his wife at first? 3. Show students the second part and let them do the following exercise: Choose true or false: T or F 1) Hansel and Gretel were taken to the forest._ 2) Hansel didnt know his parents plan._ 3) Hansel prepared some pebbles before._ 4) Their parents came back to look for them at last._ 4. Show students the third part and ask them to say these two sentences out: How did they manage to find their way back? Tomorrow Ill take them so deep they will never get out. 5.
