In this situation, you need to pay attention to get suitable themes to continue the talk. And interview each other.4.3 Market Research Quite often, people use a series of ( 一系列的)questions to ask about users opinions and try to find out weather they will be potential customers or not. This kind of question-asking activity is often known as market research, though there are many other ways to get information. What are the main products in your company? Who are your major customers? There are two types of introductions: introducing yourself introducing someone else and also there are two types of greetings: formal greetings informal greetings If you want to introduce someone else to others, first you have to let others know whom you are. 1. Now can I get you a drink before we startBackground informationIn the daily life, the talk can both be formal and casual.Besides using the expressions like “ Good morning,Hello” , we can find some other words in accordancewith the occasions, situations, status,etc in order not tomake a show of yourself. You have to attach to foreignershabits. For example, Englishmen like to talk about theweather as the opening. So you can find some othercorresponding topics to make the conversation continue.But, not any topic is safe here, youd better avoid talkingabout those below:Inappropriate topics: 1.Age: Some people are more sensitive about this subject than others. Middle-aged people may be sensitive because that is when they begin to look and feel old. Western psychologists often talk about the “mid-life crisis”. Finally, elder people may not like to think of themselves as elderly, and do not like to be reminded of their age. 2. Marital status (婚姻状况): In Western society family role and relationships are not so important in establishing a persons social identity. They are considered personal matters. Also, it is important to remember that marital relationships in other countries are often more complicated than in China. People may be single, married, co-habiting, limited-divorced, co-habiting, divorced, remarried etc.3. Children: The situation in other countries may be more complicated than in China. Some may want children but cant have them. Some may want children but would prefer to postpone it for a few years in order to get on with their careers, etc. Some choose not to havechildren at all and society does not consider this strange.
