B: She was.Step VI Listening PracticeTeach the new words “alarm” and the phrases “go off” and “take a shower” by using pictures.Have students look at pictures in 2a and describe them. Tell students that this is a story about a boy yesterday morning. Have them look at the pictures and guess the order of the story happened.Play the tape the first time, students only listen and get a general idea of it,ask students to write the numbers in front of the pictures. Check the answers in class.Let students go through the sentences for each picture in 2a. Play the tape again and let them complete the sentences. Check the answers in class.Listen for the third time, this time; ask ss to fill in the blanks to find out what happened to the boy.Then check the answers.Step VII Retell the storyHave students read the sentences in 2a and 2c, and the teacher explains the adverbial clauses with “when” in 2a and 2c. Then ask them to use the information in 2a to retell the story. What happened to the boy?Step VIII Summary and ExerciseGuide students to summarize the language points they learned in this class.Ask students to finish the exercise about the progressive tense.Step IX Homework1.
