InternshipReportSeniors are embracing their own lives based on their own options and decisions. A few are immersing themselves in a joyful soup for receiving a postgraduate recommendation, the majority turn out to be in the flush of finding a decent job with a fat pay, several students are busy with preparing personal materials for applying for ideal universities abroad . At this moment, complex feeling has occurred to me when the four-year journey is going to an end. This is the turning point of our lives to be members of society and to shoulder the responsibility of independence. Maybe a cloud of scare and anxiety is casting shallow on us, which makes us want to recede, however, internship is the golden transition to adjust ourselves to those changes just around the corner. Internship provides legions of opportunities to emerge the society ahead of time, with the purpose of improvingthe ability ofstudents andsocial contacts. As such, internship can mirror what kind of talents will meet the needs of society and what are our advantage and disadvantage .As a result, a clear image about ourselves and society will be gained. After four years leaning, I have acquired much comprehensive and abundant theoretical knowledge concerning English and translation. During the four-year study of English in Chengdu University of Technology, the most meaningful and precious things, I convince, is that English extends the width of our view and provide a sort of international view to see the world. As such, my view of internship is not caged by the English major. In other words, as for me, the content of the internship is not necessarily related to my major. In terms of my character, positivity plays major role in my lives. As Helen Keller said, “keep your face to the sun and you will never see the shadows.” All sufferings, difficulties and hardships, I convince, are Gods gifts which will give you strength to endure and to withstand. Besides, communicating with different people from different culture and background, I believe, is one of the most interesting things in the world. As a result, I determined to go for an internship related to the sales, and finally I succeeded to get access to a little company settled near our school after rounds of interviews. I worked for nearly a month in that company as a salesman promoting the sales of leisure food, such as biscuits, cakes, jellies, egg yolk pie and milk tea. In the first day of working as a salesman, the boss gave me a series of pamphlets with much information correlated to leisure food, and commanded me to get acquainted of such relevant information as soon as possible and catch a good mastery of the sales knowledge. Therefore, I became quite arduous and tried to accomplish the task within the required time, and I remembered the specific types, prices and brands of leisure food in a short time due to the excellent memory which had cultivated in the study of school. After the learning of basic knowledge about leisure food, the company designed a little test for me to guarantee that I surely grasped the basic knowledge that I learned before and then, I passed the little test, which, to some extent, surprised the boss in that I behaved like a sophisticated employee in the company. Next was a three days training program for the intern students which includes the culture of this company, the elementary behaviors of a salesman, the skills and requirements of communication and negotiation, effective strategies concerning marketing, analysis of the present market, and some were quite new for me, an English major, so I exerted all my efforts to master the knowledge as much as possible. Later, I was sent to the near retail store with other partners to sell leisure food. The store was a little small but full of people all day, and I worked as a shop assistant at first who could help consumers to find out the leisure food that they are looking for and recommend the high-quality leisure food to them and persuade them to have a try. However, it was prohibited for us intern students to make profits when we succeeded to sell some leisure food after the exhaustive explanation. What impressed me most is that there are groups of people and full of noisiness, and at the same time you must keep alert and acute in order to convey the right and useful message to your customers and stimulate them to purchase the leisure food although it is not related to your salary. Although the period of internship was very short, lasting only one month, I have learned a lot of things which will benefit my future life. After finishing the internship program, I have become more experienced in tackling social problems and learned how to get along well with the customers, which have make me more confident than ever before. From the view of individual development, the greatest impact on me should be the grasp of skill to communicate with others. Above all, in the conversations with consumers, the tone of your voice should keep stable and sure without hurry and haste. Second, an appealing conversation turns out to be a must. You can use the rosy words such as high-end, fragrant and tasty with the method of repeating to mobilize the sense of sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch of the consumer. As such, a vivid image of the product that you introduce will impress deeply on the minds of consumers. Last but not the least, it is also important to be a good listener. When a consumer is complaining and discerning your product or service, do not try to interrupt or retort immediately. Instead of interrupting or retorting, you should be a good listener with the method of asking question and using body language including nodding and smiling. As such, the most concerned question of the custom will be gained, which will help you to find and solve the core problem. From the perspective of career, an internship will bring legions of benefits to your future career. An internship provides the opportunity to gain hands on work experience that you just cant get in the classroom. Nowadays, employers are usually more concerned with your work experience than your qualifications and internships are often the only way to get the work experience you need to secure a job, so theyre a vital part of your resume. Many employers prefer or require applicants who have done an internship or relevant work experience and in many of the more competitive job markets it is essential to set you apart from the others. Besides, If youre not sure if this is the right career for you, doing an internship is a great way to try it out. Internships are generally short-term, so you can test your future career and find out if it is a career that will satisfy you. What is more, Internships are a great way to meet people in your field. An internship allows you to meet people who might help you land a job later on and give you the contacts in the industry youre trying to break into. Plus, references from people in the industry will really add weight to your application. At last, having received the letter of admission from the graduate department of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, I am not required to find a job immediately. However, after the study of postgraduate study, finally I will drop into the arms of society. An individual experience in university should be like a river fresh at first , narrowly contained by its banks(the regular hours and rigid discipline of university) and rushing passionately past boulders and over waterfalls . Gradually the river grows wider, the banks recede, the waters flow more quietly and in the end, without any visible break, they become merged in the sea (the society) and painlessly lose their university life. After all, the internship is a transition to be a member of society, to shoulder the responsibility of independence.
