So ,when the rainstorm suddenly came, what were you doing?能力目标:1. Learn and master the past progressive tense.2. Be able to talk about past events using the target language.3. Be able to write a short passage using the target language.情感目标:Encourage students to observe the things around them carefully and find out the beauty of the life.教学重点Learn and master the usage of the past progressive tense.教学难点Be able to talk about past events using the past progressive tense and write a short passage using the target language.教学方法采用presentation, matchandpair work,whole class activities, Practicing和Group work的学习策略,采用Task based teaching method和Situational Teaching Method的教学策略,利用教学图片、幻灯片或制作多媒体课件来展开课堂。课前准备1教师准备:制作能显示本课时重点内容的图片及多媒体课件。2学生准备:课前预习本课时所学词汇、句型及课文内容,并进行适当的总结、归类。课时安排本节课共一课时教学过程Step1: leading-inGreet the class as usual.Play a guessing game: Ask a student to do an action, then ask and answer questions like this:T: What is he/she doing?S: He/she is playing basketball/eatingCall some students to do other actions, then have some pairs ask and answer. Explain the structure of the present continuous tense.Step 2 PresentationShow a picture of doing homework and ask:T: What is the girl doing?S: She is doing homework.Then show other pictures and ask students to practice the dialogue in pair.Next say: if these actions happened at this time yesterday. How can we talk about it?Help students say: what was the girl doing at this time yesterday?T: What was the girl/she doing at this time yesterday?S: She was doing homework.Explain the usage and the structure of the past progressive tense:Was/were + v.-ingShow the pictures of doing homework, walking home, reading and waiting for the bus.Have students work in pairs , let them ask and answers.Step 3 PresentationShow some sentences of past progressive tense and let students read them after teacher. Then ask one student to translate the sentences. Finally, students read and try to recite according to the Chinese meaning.After reciting and acting out, summarize the adverbials of time. Then do some exercise to practice the past progressive tense.Check the answers in class.Step 4 Listening PracticeAsk them to listen to the tape and circle the correct responses in the conversation.Check the answers.Step 5 PracticeLet students work in pair to practice the tense in dialogue:A: Jenny, what were you doing at the time of the rainstorm ?B: I was .Ask some students to act out.Then practice another dialogue:A: What was Jenny doing at the time of the rainstorm?B: She was .Step 6 WritingWith the help of the listening material, ask students to write a short passage to describe what people were doing at the time of the rainstorm yesterday.After writing, show some compositions on the screen to correct the errors together with students.Step 7 TestStudents finish exercise and then check the answer in class.Step 8 Summary Review the tense and sentences structures.Step 7 Blackboard design Unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm
