This is a sentence with an attributive clause. Attributive clause is used as attributive. It is used to modify a noun. In this sentence, “which I like” is used to modify the cartoons.Something written on the blackboard:The attributive clause joined by relative pronoun which or whoJoined by who/that, modify personsJoined by which/that, modify objectsHe is the man (who/that lives next door to us). -who is used as the subject in attributive clause.Where is the man (whom/who/that I saw this morning)? -who is used as the object in attributive clause.He drives a car (that/which can travel 150 miles an hour). -which is used as the subject in attributive clause.Where is the book (which/that I bought this morning)? -which is used as the object in attributive clause.In the following situations, only that can be used as relative pronoun:the noun is a phrase that refers to a person as well as an objecte.g. He talked brilliantly of the man and the books that interested him.before the noun there is definite words, such as only, all, any and so onAny boy that wants to succeed must work hard.the superlative degree of a nounHe is the cleverest man that ever taught in our school.attributive clauses modify all, anything, something, everything, anythingAll that I want is peace and quiet.T: After you learn this grammar, you can justify whether this sentence includes an attributive clause or not. You can join two simple sentences into one with an attributive clause, choosing the suitable relative pronoun as well.Now do some exercises.
