Unit 6 An old man tried to move the mountains. Section A Period 1(1a-1c) 一、教学目标: 知识与技能: 1.Study the words and phrases “shoot”, “stone”, “once upon a time”, “there be”. 2. Master two sentences “When did the story begin?” “What happened next?” 3. Know how to tell stories in English. 过程与方法: 1. Learn the new words and phrases with pictures. 2. Do some listening practice. 3. Have students work in groups to tell an English story. 情感态度与价值观: Let students understand “Where there is a will, there is a way”. 二、教学重难点 1、教学重点: 1) Master the important phrases and sentences. 2) Understand Chinese fairy stories in a new way. 3) To improve students ability of speaking English. 2、教学难点: Teach students to learn how to tell a story in English. 三、教学过程 I、Lead-in 1.Greetings 2.Free talk Talk about Han Lei and Yu Gong. Han Lei is old, but he keeps on singing. Yu Gong was old, but he kept on moving the mountains. 3. Introduce the topic: Lets talk about Yu Gongs story. II、 Presentation 1. Look and say Present four pictures of Chinese fairy stories and ask following question: “Whos he?” and “Whats he doing?” “Whats the name of the story?” Read the story titles 3 times. 2. Match and check Match the pictures with the proper names. Remember the names for 1 minute. 3. Challenge your eyes Speak out the names of the stories quickly. 4. Listen and choose Listen to the tape and choose the main idea about the dialogue. 5. Listen and fill in blanks Listen to the tape again and fill in blanks.Try to get a better understanding about the story. 6. Listen and read. Read aloud after the record. Try to remember more information. III、 Practice 1. Discuss “When did the story begin?” “What happened next?” “Where would they put all the earth and stone from the mountains?” 2. Find the rules While telling a story, we should pay more attention to “when”, “who”, “why”, “what”, “how”. And the phrases “once upon a time”, “there be” are also very important. IV、 Development 1.Retell the story Write the story with your group members with the help of the pictures. Try to retell the story in chain. 2. Act it out Encourage students to act out the story.
