How to train students reading ability.Teaching Methods:1. Listening method2. Group work and pairworkTeaching Procedures:Step1.Revision (about 3 minutes) Greet students and check homework. Ask some pairs students to act their conversations about the museum that they like best.Step2.1a (about 5 minutes) This activity provides guided oral practice using the target language. Look at the pictures in 1a . Do you know where it is? Which one do you like best? Match the pictures with the names.Step3.Presentation ( about 6 minutes ) Learn the new words.Step4. 1b ( about 3 minutes ) This activity gives students practice in understanding the target language in spoken conversation . Read the instructions.A student is interviewing a foreign student. Play the tape. The first time students only listen. Play the tape a second time, now listen to the tape again . This time check the questions you hear. Check the answers with the class.Step5. 1c ( about 3 minutes )T: Listen again . You will hear the same tape again and take notes. Then talk about the information you took.Step6. 1d ( about 6 minutes ) Group work. Do a survey. Ask several students to read their answers to the class.Step7. 2a ( about 3 minutes ) T: Have you ever been to another country? Have you ever been to Singapore? What do you know or want to know about Singapore? Discuss these questions in your group .Step8. 2b (about 8 minutes )T: Today we will read an article about Singapore. Get them to discuss in groups after skimming . Invite a student to read the passage aloud to the class. Correct any mistake to make sure the student is providing a good model for the class.Ask students to read the article. Make notes or underline the main ideas in the text. After reading ,write a short summary in their own words.Answer the question: How many reasons can you find for visiting Singapore?Step9. 2c-2e ( about 5 minutes )T: You have made notes and underline the main ideas in the text. Use the information to do exercise 2c, 2d and 2e. Check the answers in class.Step10. Summary (about 2 minutes )T: In this class, we have learned some important words and the target language .We also learn a new way to understand a article . After reading, write down three or more things you have learned . We always remember things if we take time to reflect.Step11: Homework ( about 1 minutes ) Review 2b .
