Grade 8, Unit 1How often do you exercise?The Teaching Plan of Go for It (Grade 8)Unit 1 How often do you exercise?Part1 Teaching Material AnalysisEnglish new course standard emphasizes to develop students communication ability. My class is based on the Task-based Language Teaching. Its important for us to set a real situation here and give all kinds of tasks in this lesson. Students learn the language through communication, listening, and co-operation. 1. Teaching contentsMy teaching content is Section A (2a-2c) of Unit 1 How often do you exercise? Its from Go for It (Grade 8), published by Peoples education Publishing House. The main content is describing the frequency of doing an activity. There are some relevant new words and new phrases about adv. of frequency which Ss need to master, and Ss need to grasp how to ask others the frequency of doing an activity. 2. Teaching aimsA. Knowledge aimsa. Enable Ss to master the names of activities.b. Enable Ss to get familiar with the target language and adv. of frequency -How often do you exercise? I often/usually/sometimes-Adv.: always, usually, often, sometimes, hardly ever, never.B. Ability aims:a. To improve Ss communication abilityb. To train Ss cooperation ability through pair work and group work.c. To practice Ss listening and speaking ability.C. Emotion aims:a. Enjoy the happiness of doing exercise and keep healthy.b. Enjoy doing different activities in their spare time.3. Teaching key points and difficultiesA. The key points: a. Names of different activities: surf the Internet, read, read English books, exercise, shop. b. To use the target language in daily life properly.B. The difficulties: a. Be able to distinguish all the adverbs: always, usually, often, sometimes, hardly ever, never. Every day, once a day/month., three times a day/month/week/year.b. Be able to use adv. of frequency to talk about other aspects in their daily life. Such as the aspect of learning English.c. Use the target language fluently. How do you?I often; I twice a day. 4. Teaching Aids:PPT, Multi-media slides etc.Part 2 Teaching Methods1 Task-based Language Teaching Task is a job students are given that requires them to produce something in a creative way. Task-based teaching requires Interaction, Communication, and Production. My whole lesson is based on the task and guided by the task-based approach.2 Situational Language Teaching Task-based teaching suggests we should arrange more tasks and activities in real-world situations. According to the contents of this lesson is easy to present in a real-world situation, so I try to make the class more real and let Ss learn the target language in a real-world situation.3 Auditory, Visual, Kinesthetic Methods Language Teaching Some students learn something by listening to it, some students learn something by watching it, and some students learn something by doing it. I must use variety to match each learning style as well as to accomplish my class. Only the combination of auditory, visual, and Kinesthetic can make the class practical and meaningful.Generally, I persist in using various teaching methods and create many interesting tasks and activities so as to attract Ss attention, set them in a real English environment, and make them feel relaxing and happy. Part 3 Analysis of the Students and Learning MethodsThe students in Grade 8 have learnt some names of sports, and doing sports is one of their favorite topics, especially for boys. The aim of learning English is to let Ss receive some moral education while they are learning. Students in my class will learn the importance of doing exercise. The most important thing is that we can get a harmonious atmosphere in this class. It can stimulate their learning interests. Finally, they will be able to know more about how to express the frequency of doing an activity.Part 4 Teaching Procedures AnalysisStep 1 Warming-up 1) Play a song and let Ss enjoy it2) Ask some questionsStep 2 Revison &Presentation1). Review the sentence structure 2). Review adv. through PPT 3). Present the new phrases of expressing the frequency of doing an activity.Step 3 Listening & Presentation 1).First time: Get the general idea2). Second time: finish 2a3). Third time: finish 2b4). Present the tape script and explain it Step 4 Drill1). Group workmake a survey according to 3a.2).Group workmake an interview of how to improve Ss English study Step 5 HomeworkWrite about how often your family members do things. For example, My mother cooks dinner every day. We eat in a restaurant once a week. My father goes to Shanghai twice a year. Part 5 Blackboard Design AnalysisSince I use PPT course ware to present the key sentences, I only write down the title, some new words an
