Starter Unit 3 Do you like bananas?授课人:何少梅 Teaching content analysis: Complete the task from 1a to 2c. This unit is mainly talking about likes and dislikes. 1a shows the scene where students have meal in school restaurant, presenting different kinds of foods like hamburger, orange, pear, tomato, ice-cream, salad, banana, strawberry, milk and bread and the basic target languages of A: Do you like? B: yes, I do. / No, I dont. Do they1b and 1c is related to listening and speaking. Students situation analysis:The majority of students is interested in learning English and is confident of learning English well. They are keen on imitating others and participating in different activities, such as group completion and role plays. However, their language organizing ability and logical expression ability are still needed to be improved.Teaching aims:1. Knowledge and ability aims: students can master the key words including like, hamburger, pear, tomato, orange, ice-cream, salad, banana, milk, bread, strawberry and its plural form and major sentence pattern containing A: Do you like? B: yes, I do. / No, I dont. Students can talk about their likes and dislikes correctly and fluently.2. Process and way aims: by learning, practicing, group work and role playing, students are able to listen, speak, read and write the words of foods, knowing about other peoples likes and dislikes.3. Emotional and value aims: students know how to ask other peoples like and dislikes participate in class learning and discussion with active and enthusiastic attitude, experiencing the happiness and jovialityof learning English language.Teaching key points:1. Students can recognize and remember the vocabularies that are related to foods, consisting of color, red, yellow, green, blue, black, white, purple and brown.2. Students can pronounce the letter correctly, including Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz.Teaching difficult pointsStudents can apply the target language. Question: What color is it? And its answer: Its red/ yellow, brown, blackTeaching procedures:Step 1: reviewStudents read the words of starter unit 3.Step 2: previewStudents preview the content of starter unit 3 from 1a to 2e for 1 minute.Step 3: presentation1. Show the color of red, yellow, green, blue, black, white, purple, brown, and black and white.2. Explain the target language of what color is it? And its answer Its red/ yellow, brown, black3. Practice the sentence pattern: 3.1. Whats this in English? Its a ruler. What color is it? Its yellow. The first group and second group ask and the left groups answer.3.2 Whats this in English? Its a cup. What color is it? Its red. The third and fourth group ask and the left groups answer.3.3 Whats that in English? Its a jacket. What color is it? Its blue. The first group and second group and the left groups answer.3.4 Whats that in English? Its a pen. What color is it? Its black. The third and fourth group ask and the left groups answer.Step 4: Activities from 1a to 1c4.1 Focus on the picture in Activity 1a. Ask students to look at the picture and translate the meaning of conversation. Then listen to the tape. Stop the tape after each sentence and let students repeat. Check the pronunciation and correct if necessary. Read the conversation again.4.2 Ask Students to find the capital letters in the picture and match. Then check the answers.4.3 Roles play. Give 5 minutes to students to practice the conversation with their partner and make own conversation. Then ask 3 groups to play and complete.4.4 summarize the target language.Step 5: activities from 2a to 2e5.1. Review the letters from A to R. Then teach the 8 new letters Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz. Students listen and repeat the tape of 2a and read together again.
