Get them make a list of their answers on the paper.3.Ask several students to give a report about their ways of studying for an English test . I will give them some comments4.Call students attention to the box. Read the lists of ways of studying to the class. Point to actual objects in the classroom (a flashcard, a cassette, a textbook) or the items in the illustration to show the meaning of each item on the list. Explain something about the structures “verb + by with gerund ”.5.Ask students to check the ways they usually study for an English test. While they are doing this, write the list on the board. Then read the list to the class and ask students to raise their hands to show which things they checked. Write the number of hands I see after each item on the board.6.Then ask students to write down other ways they study for an English test. When they have finished, ask students to read their lists to the class.7.Discuss which are the most popular and least popular ways of studying.1.During students give a report about their ways of studying for an English test, I will give them some comments to.encourage them.2.Through these tasks chain, let them be familiar with the structures “verb + by with gerund ”.and learn to talk about how to study for a test .3.Discussing in groups can make them to cooperate with others actively and share the .joy of learning.ListeningWhile-task, 1b .1.Call students attention to the speech bubble in the illustration .Get students to look at how each student is studying and talk about the pictures in pairs.2.Read the instructions to the students and make sure students know what to do .3.Play the recording for the first time. Students only listen. Play the recording a second time. Students write in their answers. Check the answers with the whole class.This activity provides students with practice in understanding the target language in spoken conversation.PracticePost-task 1c .Guessing game and Competition: Ill divide the class into four groups ,and show some pictures on the screen. Let them guess how the Ss study for the test. If anyone can guess correctly, I will give their group a star. In the end ,the group which has the most stars is winnerThis activity gives students oral practice using the target language. It will help to cultivate the Ss ability to analyze, practise and innovate, and meanwhile strengthen the cooperation among themselves.Consolidation and Extension1.Small Competition : Make a list of ways of studying as many as possible by using verb by/with gerund in 2 minutes.
