My name is Peng Lin. Im from No.51Middle School.Today Im very pleased to have an chance to share some of my teaching ideas. Id like to talk about 3a, Section A of Unit14 I remember meeting all of you in Grade7, on Page105 , but its not a normal lesson, it is a poem. So, The students can learn to enjoy a poem, talk about their feelings, and thank others who helped them during the three years.Firstly, Id like to analyze the text book, I will talk about my understanding of this unit. This Unit is talking about “remembering doing things during the three-year junior high school, thanks for the teachers and classmates help” This lesson is the first period of Unit 14, Its very important. Secondly, I want to analyze the students: Many students are interested in their special memories, but they know little about English poems, and dont know how to express their feelings by poems.After this lesson, I want to reach these goals. 1. Knowledge aims: the vocabularies and phrases of this unit, describing different feelings, using “remember doing something”to describe their best or worst memories, then imitate to write a poem like this one. 2. Ability aims: train the ability of talking about the feelings and the memories3. Emotional aims: encourage students to speak English bravely. Train the competition and team work. And realize “Time flies, everyone should not waste time, and should be thankful to the people who helped them.I would like to use these teaching strategies listening, reading, speaking and writingTeaching important and difficult points:How to understand an English poem well Try to imitate a poem. Teaching course: Now let me introduce my teaching steps. As we all know, “Well begun is half done.”We will lead students by a Chinese poem, playing games, competitions,and watching a video. Step 1 Warming up Listen and enjoy a traditional Chinese poemOn a Quiet Night. Let the students imagine the beautiful scenery while they are listening.(Im sure children will love this poem and get interested in it.) After listening to the poem, Let students guess, Whats this? Say it in Chinese. Today well enjoy an English poem , its as beautiful as this one. ( Then show the students the poem well learn) Step 2 PresentationStudents activities First , a, look through the poem, b, listen to the poem, c, listen and read after the tape, d, ask three students to read each paragraph, pay attention to some key words, (red words) then the students can guess the main meaning. e, find your favorite sentences, and read them again. f, share your feelings. (such as, thankful, excited, warm, sad, dont want to say goodbye, and so on)Teachers activities : Guide the students to learn the poem, help the students to correct the mistakes they madeT: Some sentences are so beautiful that I like them very much. Lets read and enjoy together. Such as: I remember starting day one. And now its time to graduate. I cant believe its been three years. But its difficult not to cry. Ill miss the school trees and flowers. Do you have the same feelings?Now lets watch a video, it recorded your daily life in our school.(While the students watching the video, Im sure it can remind of many special memories, they will point at the picture, look! its me and its Tom falling down. Maybe, They laugh aloud with tears. They can talk about it freely and happily. ) Step3 Pair workStudents activities After finishing watching the video, one student writes down the best and most unforgettable memories they have during the three years, the other students talk about together.(Such as, someone took part in the art festival, the teacher or students helped a lot with his study, Someone won the first prize, someone got to the top in the final exam and so on.)The students may write,“Linda remembers Miss Wang helped me a lot with her math, Im thankful, I will remember her forever. Tom remembers taking part in”so that they can use“remember doing something well, and the students can write an article.”Then show their report to other groups, and they can help correct mistakes.Teachers activities encourage students to speak English bravely, help them and correct some mistakes. Group workStudents activities One student writes down the worst memories they had, (such as, going to school without taking schoolbag, going to school trip but losing some money, fighting with classmates) Then show their report to other groups and the teacher. Teachers activities The teacher should remind the student, “remember to bring your schoolbag to school next time , remember to take good care of your things next time.” (in this step, students may know the differences between “remember doing”and “remember to do”)Step5 summary and encouragement:In order to extend students ability of using English, its necessary to have proper homework.( the teacher can make a model)I remember making dumplings with you together Looking at different shape dumplingsWith laughter and tears Enjoying the delicious dumplings Never forgetting the taste of th
