Next show the pictures of Chinese folk or traditional art forms, let students enjoy them and discuss about them. Step2 PrereadingAsk students to guess what traditional art form we will learn and check the answers,Step2 skimmingIntroduce the reading strategy and ask students to skim and answer the questionsQ1:Which paragraph gives a general introduction?Q2:Where can we find specific details?Step3 scanningAsk students to read the passage quickly and answer the question:What do traditional Chinese art form try to show?Step4 Speed challengeAsk students to read the passage quickly to fill in the chart in 2b and check the answers by making sentences using “be used of” .Step5 Careful readingAsk students to read the passage carefully and fill in the chart of mind map about sky lanterns, check the answers, Then ask students to retell the paragraph by reading the mind-map.Step6 Group workLet students read the passage again and work in groups to find out the difficult points and discuss them.
