Its important for a person to keep up a good state of mind.Important point: Use “make sb.+ to do sth” or “make sb. +adj.” to express emotions.Difficult point: Use “make sb.+ to do sth” or “make sb. +adj.” to express emotions.Teaching aids: Multi-media computer, Powerpoint Teaching proceduresStep 1 Warm-upReview the words by reading aloud.Step 2 Lead-in T: Recently some of you have watched the movie. Do you still remember? Ss: Yes. T: Ok, its the Scroods. How does it make you feel when you watch it? S1: It makes me S2: It makes meStep 3 Presentation 1. T: We know there are some different kinds of movies. Such as tragedies, comics, documentries and action moves. How do they make you feel when you watch these kinds of movies? Any volunteers?Then, show pictures about different kinds of movies and ask students to answer my questions. 2. T: Ok, besides watching movies, what other things do you like to do in your free time? I like listening to music and reading. So, lets enjoy some beautiful music. Please listen and tell me your feelings. I will play music and ask students to talk about their feelings 3. T: It seems that most of you like watching movies or listening to music. Then, what can make us the happiest? Money? Fame? Health ? family or something else? Please discuss with your partner and tell me. Show some pictures and ask students to discuss with their partners . Then , invite some students to tell me their ideasT: Actually, I think money, fame, health and family are very important. But a person happy or not has nothing to do with the external factors such as power, money or fame. The key is his own state of mind. 4. T: Ok, lets relax and play a game. Please guess how they feel. Show some pictures and ask student to guess . Ss: Happy, sad, angry, surprised, nervous/stressed out, excited, bored, sleepy/tired. T: So, please use these adjectives to talk about your feelings with your partner. e.g: The sunny weather makes me happy because I can enjoy the sunshine. Then , invite several students to talk about their feelings.Step 4 Listening 1. T: Im a little hungry , are you? Ss: Yes. T: Do you want to go to eat with me Ss: Yes. T: So which would you like to go to ? Why? Then ask several students to talk about the reasons. 2. Listen to the radio, and then fill in the blanks. Read the conversation between Amy and Tina.T: Here , as for Id rather ,we can say I would rather. And , here are the phrases: would rather do sth 宁可,宁愿,还是好些 would ratherthan 宁可也不愿e.g.我宁愿打网球。 Id rather play tennis.我宁愿待在家也不愿出去。Id rather stay at home than go out. 士兵们宁死不屈。The soldiers would rather die than give in. 2.
