Ability objectives: 1) Practice reading, speaking, listening and writing. 2) Learn thress reading skills: skimming, scanning and summarizing. 3. Moral objectives: 1) Be kind to each other and enjoy the best things in life. 2) Learn from their favorite singers, actors and writers.Focal points: 1. Learn new words and phrases. 2. Understand the present perfect tense in context. 3. Get an overall understanding of the text.Difficult points: 1. Develop reading skills. 2. Individual learning 2. Cooperative learning Procedures and Time Allotment 1. Warming-up & Lead-in ( 5 mins) 1) Greetings 2) Teach new words by tell them a story of mine. This is a record. It belongs to me. Its a big success. It has been sold over 17 million (1,000,000). I have had this record ever since 2015. A friend bought it for me when she went abroad. I will keep this record forever. The singer is Garth Brooks. He is a famous country music singer. He is from America. It is a modern country. He went to Nashville Tennessee in 1987. It is a southern state of America. Actually, Im a fan of country music. I love the beauty of nature and the countryside in it.2. Pre-reading (3 mins) 1) Ask students six questions anout the title of the reading passage. A Country Music Song Changed Her Life Forever a. What is country music? b. When did it change her life? c. How did it change her life? d. Who is the girl? e. Where is she from? f. Why is country music so different? 2) Use 5W1H to tell a story or know about a story.3. While-reading (16 mins) 1) Explain the reading skill: skimming (Tips: Read quickly and quietly to find the main idea(主要意思) without reading every word. ) 2) Read quickly and choose the main ideas for each paragraph. 3) Explain the reading skill: scanning (Tips: Move your eyes quickly down the page to find specific(特定的) information) 4) Read again to find answers to these questions. (Tips: Using a pencil to underline the information may make it easier. ) a. Who is the girl? b. Where is she from? c. When did it change her life? d. How did it change her life? e.
