To train the students ability of retelling the story.Emotional aims:You can never know whats possible unless you try to make it happen.Teaching important points:How to retell a story and how to use the conjunctions.Teaching difficult points:How to make the familiar Chinese story in English .Teaching aids:CAI , a recorder,Teaching procedures:Teachers activitiesStudents activitiesPurposesStep 1 warming upShow the preview of the movie The Monkey King.Show some pictures of the Chinese story like”武松打虎、盘古开天地、哪吒闹海”etc.Show the four pictures in 1a.Stusents watch the preview.Students enjoy the pictures.Students say the names of the four pictures in 1a.Get Ss know something about this unit.Step 2 Presentation & talk1.Get students to do 1b,then listen again and fill in the blanks.2.Then get students to work in pairs about the beginning of the story.Students listen to 1b and get to know sth about the background of the story.The reason why Yu Gong wanted to move the mountains was that there were two big mountains near his house and they were so big and high that it took a long time to walk to the other side.Know sth. about the background of the story.To make the listening easier in the next step.Step 3 Listening1. Show students 4 pictures and get them to catch the information from the story and guess the rest of the story.2. Listen to 2b and circle the words.3. Listen and repeat.4. Retell the rest of the story.1.Guess the rest of the story and learn some new words.2. Listen again and circle the words To train Ss listening skills by catching the key words(adj.).Step 4 Get students to retell the story of Yu Gong according to some key words.Students retell the story according to the information.Students should use the conjunctions like : as soon as.To improve the students ability of using the language.Step 5 Group work Ask the Ss to work in groups of four and share opinions on Yu Gongs story and reasons, then make a report.Ss share the opinions about the story,then make a report.Help the students to use theLanguage points fluently.
