Reading section Teacher: 洪秋艳Students:Grade 7Lesson Type: ReadingTime Duration: 45minutesv Theoretical basisNew English Curriculum of 2011 Standards advocates quality-oriented education and all-round learning. Therefore, teachers should develop Ss learning interests; cultivate their sense of the language and develop their language abilities including listening, speaking, reading and writing. The ultimate goal of language learning is to develop the ability to use language. According to constructivism theory, the students need to be offered scaffolding in reading. It is the teachers responsibility to provide the scaffolding for students and cultivate students reading skills to improve their reading comprehension. v Analysis of learning material The topic is from PEP English Book for Grade 7, unit 7, 2a-2c. It is about weather and vacation and how does the writer describe their trips in the postcards. Students have already accumulated some background knowledge about vacation and the topic is related to their daily life. They like to express their ideas about this topic. The language points involved include “It is.; have a great time doing sth”v Analysis studentsStudents in Grade 7 have already accumulated certain vocabulary and sentence patterns. But they are weak at writing. So, teacher will provide opportunities and create situations to encourage and promote them to construct writing outline through reading comprehension. Teacher should also pay more attention to individual differences and encourage students to involve in class. Teaching objectives Language skillsReading skill: Develop their reading skills such as skimming the text to get the main information of the six types of moviesSpeaking skill: Students are able to use sentence structure “It is .(weather) in spl. .” to express their opinions about vacation. Writing skill: after learning reading material, students will be asked to write a postcard about their own vacation. Language knowledgeVocabulary: Canada, Europe, vacation Students are able to use these words when they talk about trip.Sentence pattern:have great time doing sth./ I am doing sth/ It is (weather) in spluse this sentence to describe their vacation Affect and cultural awarenessStudents will have knowledge about different weather and vacations.Students are able to relax and adjust themselves when they are down or tired. Teacher asks students say anything about trip.【Intention】Free talk can arouse Students interest in English learning and review the old knowledge. Students can be enlightened to talk about trip. Free talk about background knowledge can stimulate their schema, which can help them prepare for the class.Pre-reading 8mins【Step 1】Teacher presents the picture and new words.【Step 2】Teacher introduce Lilys trip in Canada and Europe.So that, T could teach the new words “Canada” and “Europe” through pictures and Lilys trip.T: Where is it?Ss: Its France.T: Where is France?Ss: Its in Europe. 【Intention】T can lead in the new knowledge naturally in created situations. Student can find some clues from the details in pictures, therefore they can grasp the brief features about trips.While reading 17mins【Activity1: Describe pictures in 2a】 T asks Ss to describe pictures in 2a. T will lead Ss to say something about the weather there and their activities there.【Activity 2: Skimming】 T asks Ss to find the writer and receiver. And know the structure of postcard. Then Ss could finish the 2b. Match the pictures with postcards. 【Activity 3: Scanning】Teacher asks Ss to read the article carefully and fill in the blanks. Girls read about Sulins vacation and boys read about Daves vacation. Then, they share ideas in the group. 【Intention】Scanning is usually the most efficient way of grasping the details of the passage. And this activity is designed to help Ss understand the whole passage and then to practice the main new-learned sentence.【Activity4: Lets share your vacation】Teacher asks student to fill in the mind-map. Then, they could say something about their own trip. Finally, they could use postcards to share their vacation with others.【Intention】By giving reports, students have more opportunities to speak and they enjoy and share the task product. Students get the feedback from teacher. Pos-reading 13mins【Activity1: Write a postcard.】Imagine you are on a vacation.(想象你正在旅行)Write a postcard to Emma to share your vacation.
