New words: milk, cow, feed, horse, farmer, quite, anything, grow, farm, pick, excellent, countryside, yesterday, flower, worry, luckily, sun2. Useful expressions: milk cows, feed chickens, quite a lot, ride a horse, in the countryside3. Target language:How was your school trip? It was great!Did Carol ride a horse? Yes, she did./ No, she didnt.What did Carol do? She picked some strawberries.III. Teaching aids: A computer, multi-media, a recorder, some word cards, etc.IV. Teaching methods:Direct teaching method; Situational teaching method; Communication teaching method.V. Learning strategies:Learn by themselves; Learn in paris or in groups; VI. Teaching steps:Step 1 Ready for classGreetings between the teacher and the students.A yes-or-no game.Step 2 Leading-in and presentationT: Did you have a nice weekend?Ss: Yes, I did. (with the help of the teacher) Then present the past simple tense.Show the tense on the screen.Students watch, listen and learn. They take some notes when necessary.Step 3. PresentationShow some pictures and prensent the new words on the screen.Students watch the screen with great interest and learn the new words.Lead them to read them out aloud. Check in individuals.Step 4.Consolidation1. 1a. Show 1a on the screen and get Ss to finish the matching the new phrases with the right pictures. Check the answers then and there.2. 1b. Listening. Play the tape and get them to finish 1b. Check the answers in individuals.3. 1c. Work in pairs.4. 2b. Listening. Play the tape and get them to finish 2b. Check the answers in individuals.5. 2c. Work in pairs.6. 2d. Role-play the conversation. Finish some exercises then. Check the answers.7. 3a. Complete the letters between Jim and Bill. Check the answers.Step 5. Practice 3b.Make up a story. Each student adds a sentence. (optional.)Step 6. Exercises in classFill in the blanks with right verb forms; Translation.VII. Summary.I present this period in a new class.
