It is well organized by free talking, paragraph writing and poster making. It is a writing lesson, aims to improve Ss writing ability. It contains some new words as follows: whales, huge, oil, protection, etc. The topic is mainly to talk about saving animals in danger.The analysis on the learning condition Ss are from junior high school, grade8. As junior high school students, they have achieved a certain English level, and they have the ability to guess the basic meaning of new words and phrases according to learning material. And they are able to express their ideas clearly. Since Ss vocabulary is limited, they may have difficulty completely understanding the whole teaching procedures. However, Ss at this age are easily activated by pictures and sounds, so creating a real life situation may arouse their learning attention and interests.Teaching objectives 1. Language skills(1) After learning the new words, Ss are able to understand the presented meaning.(2) After whales talking, Ss are able to talk about other animals in danger freely.(3) By the end of the class, Ss are able to write a short passage about animals protection.2. Language knowledge(1) Ss are expected to grasp the new words and phrase as follows: l whales, huge, oil, protection,(2) Ss are expected to utilize the main sentence structure to talk about the problems and give the solutions. 3. AffectsSs can treat the endangered animals with a reasonable attitude and put forward some effective advice for animals protection.4. Cultural awarenessSs can realize that there are a lot of animals in different countries, and its every humans duty to protect animals in danger.5. Writing strategies(1) Ss are able to enrich the language by using different sentence patterns.(2) Ss are able to choose suitable linking words(连词).Teaching focuses and anticipated difficulties Teaching method PPP-Model: Based on the understanding speaking and writing as an interactive process, the writing lesson is divided into three stages.Teaching procedures Step1: Pre-writing (18mins)Activity1: Warming up (3mins) Ss are invited to enjoy a video about whales at the beginning of the class. Then T leads them to discuss some facts about whales.Activity2: Picture talking (4mins)T presents a picture of the whale which is crying. And lead out the topic: whales are in danger. Then Ss are expected to discuss the reasons why whales are in danger.Activity3: Free talking (4mins)After realizing that whales are in great danger, Ss are able to think out some solutions to save them. Activity4: Discussion (7mins)T: Actually, there are a lot of animals in danger. Do you know more? Now, please discuss with your partner, and tell something about endangered animals.Teaching intentionA good begun is half down. In activity1, T aims to arouse Ss attention by enjoying a video. And then T leads to the topic by presenting the picture of a whale. It can improve Ss learning interests, and makes class teaching much more vividly. Then Ss are able to talk about other endangered animals based on the whales.Then T presents the structure of the content, and lead Ss to make preparation for their writing.Step2: While-writing (14mins)Activity1: Sentence polishing (6mins) T: Actually, I have written a passage about whales. But I need your help to make it better.Then Ss are able to realize the importance of title, and pay more attention about the sentence patterns and linking words.Activity2: Passage writing (8mins) T: So now, are you ready for your writing?Then T stresses the writing structure and important phrases again.Teaching intentionIt is a writing class. So it is a very important period for Ss to train their writing skills. For the idea of helping teacher, Ss may find it much more interesting to polish the sentences.Step3: Post-writing (8mins)Activity1: Passage sharing (7mins) Ss are expected to share their passage in the class, and find out the good sentences or phrases.Activity2: Homework (1mins) Teaching intentionIt aims to check Ss learning from this class.
