This unit is designed to teach students to talk about abilities. This lesson is close to our real lives. And it makes students know how to show their abilities and how to join a club to train their abilities and it arouses students to be self-confident, meanwhile students should know how to use modal verbs can. . In the process of learning, students are encouraged to improve their reading skills and speaking silks. Students are expected to go on learning the key words and target language learnt in the first three periods of this unit.Analysis of the students:Students in Grade 7 are eager to learn more new language expression and they are willing to improve their English abilities. They can play different musical instruments, and they can sing, dance, draw, play chess etc. So they must be interested in the topic of this class. They are supposed to show their abilities, talk about their own abilities and their friends abilities. And they are encouraged to show off themselves. Maybe its a little difficult for some students, but I think they can do well with the help of their teacher in class. Teaching Aims:Knowledge Objectives: By the end of this class, Ss will be able to use the following words and phrases. Guitar, sing, swim, dance, draw, chess, speak, join club, tell, story. speak English, play the guitar, play chess, join the music club, be good at, want to do Ability Objectives: a) Students practice speaking and reading skill.b) Students can ask and show abilities with others in English.c) Students learn to be confident. Moral Objectives: Students know the importance of being confident and try to study hard and make them a useful person for the society in the future. Type of lesson: presentation and learningClass period: 40minutesImportant points: a) Students know how to show their abilities with the modal verb “can”b) Students know how to use the key words and phrases.Difficult points: using the modal verb “can”.Teaching methods: Direct method, Audio-lingual method, the Audio-visual approach,Learning methods:a) Students are guided to learn by themselves. b) Students are encouraged to participate the classroom activites.c) Ss are leaded to use the target language correctly.Resources of teaching: Students book, a video about the elephants, listening material of this passageTeaching Procedures:Teaching ProceduresWhat T does in classWhat Ss do in class(Ts expectation) Purpose of the designStep 1. Greetings and leading in:1. Greet the Ss and show photos of some musical instruments2. Ask them if they know these. Things.3. After getting the answer, teacher asks them what instruments they can play.4. After getting the opinions, teacher shows students the flashes, and lead them read the new words. 5. Write the title of this class. Unit1 Can you play the guitar?1. They answer Ts questions 2. After watching the video, students know these words.3. Students say,” I can play the guitar.”Its designed to help Ss arouse their interests in what they are learning in this class and focus on the abilities they have.Step 2. Presentation1. Teacher gives out some useful questions and asks students to participate. 1. They talk about their abilities and what club they want to join. 1. Its designed to help students know the main tasks of this lesson. Step 3. First listening 1. Listen to 1b, then check the answers with the class. 1.Teacher asks students to listen to 1b, and try to finish the task. 2. Check the answers.3. Read the conversations together. Students are able tofinish the tasks with the help of the teacher. Make sure the key points are in their mind. Step 4 Practice. Make conversations in pairs. 1. Teacher shows the key structure for students.2. Teacher asks students to perform in front of the class. 3.Give them comments.1. Students take part in the activities 2. Students are encouraged to show themselves bravely.Its designed to help students to master the key structure. Step 5:listening Finish 2a and 2b. 1. Teacher asks students to listen carefully to 2a and 2b.2. Check the answers.3. Read the listening materials loudly together. Students listen and finish the tasks. Its designed to help students to practice their listening skills. Step 6: Role-play the conversation 1. Read loudly and try to find some key points. 2.
