To understand the importance of rules and the necessary to obey the rules.Aims of basic knowledge: imperatives“Dont.”, “can, cant” for permission, rule, hallway, fight, arrive.Key points and Difficulties:1. Be able to make the conversations of talking about the rules.2. Be able to make sentences with “Can., can or cant ”for permission and imperatives “Dont.”3. Understand the importance of rules.Teaching Methods:Task-based teaching, PPTTeaching procedure:Step1: Lead in1. Ask a question: “When does our first class begin?” Lead in a phrase “be late for class”, “Can we be late for class? No, we cant. We cant be late for class.” “Dont be late for class.”(write on the blackboard) 2. Show some activities and discuss “What we can do? Or What we cant do?” Lead in some phrases. Ask students to practice the modal verb “can”. “Can we.?” “No, we cant.” We can also use “Dont.” (write sentences on the blackboard) “Dont eat in class.” “Dont listen to music in class.” “Dont run in the hallways.” “Dont fight.” Step2: Presentation1. Activity 1a. Review the phrases that learned above. “Look at the picture in 1a, here are some students are breaking the rules, find them out and write the number of the rule next to him or her.”2. Listen 1b. Peter, Amy and Mike are breaking the rules. What rules are they breaking? Write the numbers after the names. Check the answers. “Can you help them or give them some advice?” Encourage students to think about the ways to solve these problems and lead in “Are the activities polite or impolite? ”3. Play a competition. Encourage students to think about more school rules.4. Listen 2a. Check the activities Alan and Cindy talk about. Before listening, let students discuss these activities “What they can do? Or what they cant do?” Practice the imperatives “Dont.” and modal verb “can, cant”.5. Listen again 2b. Can Alan and Cindy do these activities? Circle can or cant above.6. 2b. Read 2d. Boys play John and girls play Alice. Then answer 3 questions. . Who is the new student? . What are John and Alice talking about? . How many rules does Alice mention? What are they?Setp3 Consolidation. Pair work.
