Unit 9 What does he look like?一、教学目标 1.识记描述人物外貌特征的词汇 Short, long, curly, straight, blonde, brown, hair, bald, tall, height, thin, heavy, a medium build, glasses, beard mustache 2.学会使用询问、描述人物外貌特征的句型。 a. What do you look like? Im short I have curly hair b. What do they look like? Theyre medium height c. What does he/she look like? He/ She is tall/of medium height/short/thin/heavy/fat. He/ She has a medium build/a beard He/she has long/short/blonde/brown/black/straight/curly hair He/ She wears glasses/a white T-shirt 3.学会询问他人外表;学会谈论,描述身高,体重,发型,面部特征及着装等外貌特征。并根据描述画出人像。二 教学重点 1) What引导的询问外貌的特殊疑问句。 2) be, have, wear的一般现在时用法。 3) 描述外貌的形容词。 三教学难点 1) 注意比较动词“has”和“is”在对人物进行描述时的用法及汉语意思的差别。 2) 注意当句子主语是第三人称单数时,在句型What does he/she/your friend/Amy look like?中助动词用does,后面用动词原形look。第一课时 (Section A: 1a1c) Teaching aimLearn the words about describing persons appearance. S1: Yes, I do.T: Can you say something about them? S1: Yes, I can. T: What does he/she look like? Lets start new lessons.Step 2 New words1. Present new words.Show my pictures to the students.Teach the new words in the same way such as “short hair, curly hair ,long hair, long curly hair ,straight hair ,long straight hair, tall, short, height, medium height, thin, heavy, ”.2. Practice the new words.T: Look at 1a. Match the new words with the pictures as quickly as you can.(Then check the answer.)Step 3 listening. T: I have a good friend. Her name is Amy. Look, this is Amy. Now she comes to the station to meet her friend. But there are so many people. She cant find her friend. Can you help her?Ss: Yes.T: Listen to the tape. Work on 1b. Help Amy find her friend, Ok? Ss: OK.(The teacher plays the recording. Then check the answers.)Step 4 New drills1. Present the drills T: I have long, straight hair. Im medium height and Im medium build. What do you look like? S: I have And Im. (Ask three more students to practice.)2. Practice the drills A: What do you look like? B: I am, and I have. A: What does he/she look like? B: He/ She is, and He/ She has.3. Practice more. (show the pictures, ask the students practice.)4. Guess Game. (one student describe one of your friends in your class, others guess.I have a good friend. He/ She is .He/ She has.Is he/she .?Yes, he/ she is . No, he/she isnt.Step 5 Language points.1.What does she look like?该句结构为“What + do/does +主语 + look like” ,是用于询问某人外貌的特殊疑问句,意为“某人长得怎么样?”回答时可用“主语+be动词+形容词”或“主语+have/has+形容词+名词”。 如:-What does the girl look like? 那个女孩长的怎么样? -Shes tall and thin./She has long black hair. 她又高又瘦。/她留着长长的黑发。. 注:(1) 该句型可与“what + be动词+主语+like?”互换。如:What does she look like? = what is she like?(2) look like 与be like的区别:look like“看起来像”,侧重外观上像;be like“像”,侧重“内在品质和品德”2. 句子“Is he short or tall?”这是一个选择型疑问句,其句型结构为“be动词+名词 + or + 名词(与前一名词是对等成分)”。选择性疑问句不能用Yes或No来回答,必须选择选项进行回答。如:- Is the baby boy or girl? 这个宝宝是男孩还是女孩? -It is a boy. 它是男孩。3. 描述性形容词(1) tall - short,指人、动物、树、楼房的高矮;high - low,指山峰、物价、地势、物体的高矮。(2) long - short,指事物的长短。(3) fat - thin,fat的委婉说法是heavy(重的),thin还有“薄”的意
