Millions of people get affected by it on a daily basis. This problem is more serious in the northern hemisphere(半球) where theres a huge growth in the number of industries. Winds absorb more and more quantities of harmful gases produced by various kinds of industries. Acid rain occurs when high levels of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide enter in the atmosphere and start chemical transformation. These harmful gases are absorbed by water droplets in the clouds and they fall on the earth during rains. They can damage the natural soil by increasing the acidity levels and pollute rivers and lakes. Dead and weakened trees are a very common sign of acid rain, while in cities worn off or scarred buildings are also a result of acid rain.Acid rain is actually a broad term which is used to describe different types of acid that fall from the atmosphere on earth. Its mainly divided into wet and dry. Parts of the world which experience wet weather have acid rain, acid snow and fog. Other parts which experience dry weather for most of the year experience acid gas and acid dust. One of the main causes of acid rain is a sudden drop in the pH levels of water and that happens because of absorption of harmful gases by the atmosphere. The best way to bring back the pH balance of water is to limit the use of items which run on petrol.Instead use products which run on electricity.Another great thing that all people can do is to learn how to drive cars efficiently. To reduce smoke emission from cars, drivers should ease up as soon as the yellow light rather than slamming on the brakes and they shouldnt rush away as soon as the lights turn green. These small practices help reduce the wastage of petrol.Limit the use of buses or cars for small things, people can also make use of cycles or walk to cover small distances.Another great tip which almost all of us can practice is to always keep the vehicle tyres full of air, which will provide users with a better fuel economy.Turn off your lights, computers and other appliances when not in use.Learn about the different sources of energy besides fossil(化石) fuels and try to use them in daily life. Many nations like France and Germany are using electrical, nuclear, wind and solar energy on large basis.Title: Acid RainProblemAcid rain (71)_ millions of people and becomes a serious environmental threat to our planet todayOccurrence Harmful gases (72)_ industries go into the atmosphere and chemical transformation happens. According to the UC Berkeley research, though, its the deterioration(退化) in the quality (i.e., difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep) that keeps “memories from being saved by the brain at night.”Ditch any lateday coffeeIts hard to remember whether caffeine is good for you and bad for you, as the studies seem to say something different every day. But one thing remains constant: caffeine stays in your system a long time, so youd better not consume it too late in the day. Cut it out starting around 3 to 4 pm., experts recommend.UnplugTurn off the TV, the cell phone, the iPad, the laptop. Starve your brains addiction to instant information, which in turn will renew and preserve your memory as you sleep. Not only that, youll avoid the increased risk of depression that increased exposure to artificial light(from TV, computer and smart phone screens) has been shown to cause. Make a choice of other “unwinding” activities for the prebed hours, such as board games, taking a class, reading a book, or simple and enjoyable chores.Redecorate your bedroomNew pillows, sheets, bed linens, darkening curtains, and other accessories that make you feel relaxed, cozy and eager to go to bed at night are well worth the money. But dont just focus on these elements: if you have a TV in the bedroom, move it elsewhere. Got a lot of clutter in your bedroom? Clear it out. Have a workspace in the bedroom? Relocate it. Experts agree that keeping the bedroom for sleep only is a vital way to ensure quality rest.Keep a bedside journalWhen your head hits that pillow, does your mind start racing? Whatevers weighing on your mind will probably keep you tossing and turning, so keep a good oldfashioned journal and pen handy(dont use the smart phone). If no amount of deep breathing or meditation(冥想) exercises have worked, write down your thoughts. Dont worry about being grammatically correct. Just get them on the page so you can forget about them(at least until morning). Many believe that your memory will be better by forgetting more, which is certainly necessary when you need to be sleeping instead of stressing.Talk to your doctorIf physical, mental, or emotional hardships are keeping you up at night, make an appointment with a physician, who may be able to diagnose an underlying cause that youre unaware of, or prescribe something to help you sleep through the pain or other distractions.Title: How to Have a Sound Sleep(71) _ on how to have asound sleepDetailed informationGo for quality, not (72) _(73) _ a recommended solid eight hours sleep for all adults, sometimes pain, chronic illness, continence issues, depression or stress prevent many from hitting that targetDitch any lateday coffeeNo matter (74) _ caffeine is good or bad for you, you had better (75) _ consuming coffee too late in the dayUnplugging Turning off all the electronic devices, and your brain will be less (76) _ to instant information You will avoid the increased risk of depression which is caused when you are (77) _ to artificial lightRedecorate your bedroomBuy new pillows, sheets, bed linens, darkening curtains, and other accessories that make you feel relaxed, cozy and eager to go to bed at nightKeep a bedside journalWrite down the thoughts that keep you tossing and turning on the journal at hand, which is a good way to (78) _ your memoryTalk to your doctorIf physical, mental, or emotional hardships are keeping you up at night, make an (79) _ with a physician, who may be able to diagnose an underlying cause that you (80) _ to notice (C)Whenever we meet with difficulty or failure, teachers, parents or others often say to us or perhaps we say to ourselves, “Never give up.” These can be encouraging words and words of determination. A person who believes in himself will keep trying to reach his goal no matter how many times he fails. In my opinion, the quality of determination to succeed is an important one to have. Therefore, I believe that we should never give up. One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieve anything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at something new, so we should not feel disappointed and should try again. Besides, if we always give up when we fail , we will not be able to develop new skills and grow. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from our mistakes so that we can not make the same ones. If we do not try again, the lesson we have learned is wasted. Finally, we should never give up because as we work to reach our goals, we develop confidence, and this confidence can help us succeed in other areas of our lives. If we never challenge ourselves, we will begin to doubt our abilities. In short, it is important that we do not give up when working for our goals. Whether we succeed in the end or not, we will learn something, and what we learn will help us to become better and more confident. Furthermore, if we give up, we have no chance of attaining our goals any more, but if we keep making great efforts, there is always a chance that we will succeed one day.Topic:NeverGiveUpPossiblemeaningsandtheauthorsopinions The words “Never give up” can_1_ others or oneself and express ones determination.
