Also, the possible reasons for the food safety incidents are analysed. Whats more, the suggestions and attitude of college students for the future to solve the food safety problems are also included.The research draws attention to the fact that the food safety problems are widely concerned among college students. They are all familiar with the food safety incidents of recent years. None of the students we investigated trust the food around the campus are safe, almost 66.7% are worried about the quality of the food around the campus. The situation of the food around campus should be improved. About 60% students have involved some food safety problems and almost 59.7% of them trust foreign food brands more. 64.3 percent of the participants holds the opinion that the Chinas food safety environments is getting worse in recent years, and 60.7% students do not believed in the government, companies and media any more. The report also concludes that the reasons for the food safety problems. Faced with the huge interests, both the enterprise and government didnt shouldering enough. Only the food quality of our national brand improved, it could compete with the foreign food brand. It is your cooperation and patience makes the investigation success.INTRODUCTION : Aim and Objective of the Investigation Food, the paramount necessity of the people, is directly related to the health of human. In china, we have varied kinds of foods for daily life. However, as the competition of the food industry is getting more and more intense, more and more harmful food additives are used to decrease the cost of production in order to earn more money. On the other hand, the quality of the food is considered to be more important since the quality of peoples life improved. Recently, as the development of the Internet, more and more accident about food safety such as: the milk powder tainted with melamine, clenbuterol, beef extract and Illegal cooking oil, have been reported to the public. Lots of people suffered serious damage from those significant incidents. Worst of all, some famous enterprise also produce harmful food driven by the interests. You may believe in the famous food brand and be willing to spend much more money for better food quality. However, the foods of those famous brands are still not safe enough. They both involved some food safety accident either. Even though the government has taken some actions to increase supervision on food safety, there are still more those kind of incidents happened. This research is commissioned to study the college students attitudes towards food safety accident. And whether their daily lives have been influenced by those food safety incidents. For many people, they do not know whether their daily foods are safe or not. Through those investigations, we hope everyone pays more attention to the safety of the food, since it is a general problem related to all human. Also, we want to analyse the main reasons for this phenomenon as the view of college student. Whats more, we try to figure out the college students suggestion about how those kinds of problems could be solved in the future, and what the government should do in order to recover the consumers faith on the quality of daily food. Finally, the information we gathered could be useful for the future research or give us an inspiration for the future work.METHODOLOGY AND PROCEDURE Design of the Survey The main targets of the survey are college students including both undergraduate and graduate students. But due to time constraints, we designed a questionnaire specially focus on the college students of BUAA. And the survey involved about 48 respondents. Although the number of people involving this survey is small, but they are covering different grades of university. Anyway, It somewhat stands for the general view of the college students on this question. We will study the results of this survey, and then carefully designed our future work based on the information we got. The Survey Procedure After the questionnaire is carefully designed, we upload this questionnaire onto the Internet. Then the respondents were individually interviewed through the Internet web site based on a list of items in a standard questionnaire. The interviews were conducted over about five day period. And prior to the interviews, the respondents were given a briefing on the objectives of the study. For clearly describing the result information, we use excel to draw histogram and pie chart for each question. Through the statistics, we can analyse the conclusion. The Questionnaire The questionnaire consisted of two parts. The first part gives a brief introduction of the objectives of this survey. Also it declares that we will keep the respondents information in secret, and we will not let them out for any purpose. The second part consists of ten short questions. Those questions are focus on different aspects of the survey. The aim of the first 3 questions is to investigate the college students attitude towards the daily fast food around the campus in quantitative. Through them we can know whether the students pay enough attention to their food they eat every day. Then the question 3 to 6 is about the possible reasons for food safety incidents as the view of students. The last 3 questions are related to the students opinion on the future of China with the topic of food safety, Also the possible methods to let customer to believe in the food quality. There are two types of question. The question 1 is multiple choice questions. It required respondents to select one or more options from a given list. The others are both single choice question, Which need the respondents to choose a single item from two or more options.PRESENTATION OF RESULTSIn this part, totally ten charts are given. Each chart represents the result to the corresponding question. The results of each question is analysed detailed.From chart 1, we can see that 44.4% of the participants know the inferior milk powder of FuYang, 100% of the participants know the Melamine milk powder, 96.3% of the participants know the Waste oils, 96.3% of the participants know the Lean meat powder, 77.8% of the participants know the Dyed steam buns, 22.2% of the participants know the Recycled bread, 70.4% of the participants know the Beef extract and 63% of the participants know the Poison bean sprouts. This may demonstrate that the food safety problems are widely concerned among college students.As we can see from chart 2, nobody is very reassuring about the food around school and only 14.8% of participants are reassuring the food around school.66.7% are worried and 18.5% are very worried about the food around school. According these statistics we can draw that most of college students are feel concerned about the food around school.From the result we can see that 7.4% eat the food around the school every day, 48.1% often eat the food and 37% eat the food sometime. Only 7.4 never eat the food around the school. It can be said that almost everyone have eaten the food around the school. We want to know how many people have encountered food safety problems form this question. Form the investigation, we see that nobody have never encountered the food safety problem. The answer is also interesting that 33.3% doubt they have encountered the problem, though they have no evidence. With the development of market economy, more and more foreign food brands come into Chinese market. We want to know college students believe Chinese food or foreign food. 33.3% occupy a middle position, 59.7% trust foreign food brands and only 7.4% would choose Chinese food brands. As is shown in the chart, 46.4 percent of the participants hold the idea that some companies and individuals who are lack of social morality is the main reason which caused food safety incidents, 39.3percent of the participants put the blame on the ineffectiveness of the government departments supervision and control, 10.7 percent of the participants think the food safety incidents are an inevitable phenomenon during the development stage of Chinese society, only 3.6 percent of the group have the opinion that the related law is not perfect is the main reason. We can see that both the government departments and the companies or individuals who are lack of social morality are the main reason of food safety incidents.From the bar chart above, it can be seen that 64.3 percent of the participants think the Chinas food safety environment is getting worse in recent years, only 10.7 percent believe it is getting better, the same percent think its hard to explain, 14.3 percent almost unchanged. It is clear that most participants hold negative attitudes towards the Chinas food safety environment in recent years.This bar chart shows that 60.7 percent of the participants which is the majority trust no one, whereas 32.1 percent of the participants believe the media report most when there are food safety problems, only 7.1 percent of the participants believe government notice and no one believe the association announcement and corporate complaints. So it can be conclude that most people are kind of confused and skepticism and some media reports may be trustful as it is believed by 32.1 percent of the participants.According to the graph, the majority of the participants doubt all means to ensure the safety of the food, 28.6 percent of the participants believe in a third-party food safety certification or additives security guarantees, only a small part of participants believe the quality and safety standards of the country, nobody believe commercial advertisement. Commercial advertisement seems unreliable in confirming the safety of food.As can be seen from the chart above that more than a half of participants think it is still a long way to go for China food safety. 39.3 percent of the participants hold the view that China food safety will be improved as people pay more attention to it. We can say most people hold a positive view about China food safety.DISCUSSION OF RESULTS In this section, the gathered information has been deeply researched by analyzing the relationship between the answers of different questions. After that, we can find some facts beyond the answers. Also we will give some suggestions based on the analysis. We have no other choice The figure above shows the cross-analysis of the second and the third question. Its understandable that the college student reassuring about the food around school so they eat the food very often from the above chart. But its interesting that the half of students worried about the food around school eat the food very often. Why? We think that the reason of this phenomenon is due to the lack of affordable formal catering and snacks around the school. It has resulted that even for the students are worried about the food, they have to choose them as there is no choice. Therefore, we hope situation could be changed. On one hand, schools and businesses should build some affordable and healthy restaurant around the school, so that students can have more choices. On the other hand, we exhort the students not to be greedy without considering the safety of food, which is very dangerous. Both enterprise and government didnt shouldering enoughThe figure above shows the cross analysis of the question 9 and 5. The students who choose the quality and safety standards of the China are inclined to choose foreign goods. It is worth considering. We believe this is the current situation of the food safety problems in China. This phenomenon dont boils down to xenophilia or the moon overseas is more round than China. Perhaps, in comparison with foreign food safety, China food safety is really disappointing. Faced the huge interests, both the enterprise and government didnt shouldering enough. The enterprise gives up the morality for money. And the government departments supervision is ineffective. Both those reasons give rise to the worries and concerns about Chinese products. We should be more rational to this problem, find the cause of the problem, realize the gaps existed, improve product quality and regain confidence. We believe that the safety of Chinese food can be really guaranteed, we still like to buy our own brand. To revitalize our own brand, we should start to improve the quality and safety of our products! Would be better but still a long way to goThe figure above is the cross analysis of the question 7 and 10. It can be seen from the figure, people those who are satisfied or dissatisfied with the current situation of China food safety are holding positive attitude towards the future of food safety in China which means we still have hope for food safety in China. As the rapid economic development of China during transition period, China will inevitably encounter a variety of problems, including food safety. Maybe all we should do is giving our country some time and have a little faith. We believe that Chinas food safety will be greatly improved in the future, but may be still a long way to go!CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS By analyse the results of questionnaire, we have developed three aspects conclusions. The first one is that the food safety problems are widely concerned among college students. The quality of the food around the campus is terrible. School should improve the environment near the campus to make sure the quality of the food. On the other hand, college students should pay more attention to the daily food. Secondly, both the enterprise and government didnt shouldering enough faced the huge interests. This may be the main reasons for food safety problem. In comparison with foreign food safety, China food safety is really disappointing in the opinion of most students. We should start to improve the quality and safety of our national food. Finally, half of the respondents hold an optimistic attitude to the future of the China food. They think the situation will be much better within short period of time.
