any volunteer?s: they can work in factories, play football, control cars and planes, beat us at chess, give us the news, speak to us and have a real conversation with us. step iii listening (artificial intelligence)let the students listen to the materials and learn how to use the expressions about clarifying and asking questions and how to complete notes while listening. part it: today well first listen to the interview with ananova. before listening, read the questions in exercise 2 on page 22. while reading, i do hope you can underline the key words in each question and know clearly what the question is.after the students finish reading, play the recording. for the first time, the students just listen, and for the second time, get them listen and write short answers to the questions. play the recording a third time, let them check their answers. then check the answers with the whole class.t: so far you have already known about ananova by listening. do you think ananova is intelligent? why or why not? now please discuss the question with your partner. then ill ask some of you to answer it.after a while, let some of the students answer the question.t: ok. listen to the interview again. this time pay attention to the expressions about clarifying and asking questions on the screen. after listening, please complete the function file in exercise 3 with the expression. right?ss: yes.first play the tape again and then give the students several minutes to finish it and then check the answers with the whole class.t: all of you did a good job. now lets finish exercises 1 and 2 on page 68.after a few minutes, check the answers together.t: great. i think you have known something well from the explanations in exercise 1. which of the explanations in exercise 1 do you find the clearest?s: i think the third one (c) the clearest.t: what you said is reasonable. part iit: do you know how to complete notes while listening to a material? s: i think first look at the notes before listening and know what well need to complete notes.t: yes. this is very important for completing notes. do you think it is necessary to understand everything while listening?s: i dont think so.t: good! we just listen for the important words. now pay attention to the following on the screen when completing notes while listening to a material. the guidelines will be of great help for your listening. show them on the screen.look at the notes and decide what kind of information you need, e.g. a date, a number, an adjective, etc.dont worry if you dont understand everything just listen for the important words.complete the notes with one word or a short phrase.t: now lets listen to the woman talking about her favourite film and complete the notes. after the students finish reading the notes, play the recording. for the first time, the students just listen, and for the second time, get them listen and write the answers. play the recording a third time, let them check their answers. then check the answers with the whole class.part iiit: good. now lets listen to another material. before listening, you should also first read the questions in exercise 9 on page 23 to try to understand what the questions are. keep the questions in mind while listening. get the students to read the questions and then play the tape twice.after the students listen twice, check the answers together.step iv listening (communication workshop) let the students listen to the materials in communication workshop to learn about the future and something in situational dialogues.t: well do more listening in communication workshop. the listening material in listening: a song tells us something about the future. in the song, many things that will happen in the future are predicted. we can get some information about the future by listening the song. ill play the tape twice. for the first time, please finish exercise 1; for the second time, please finish exercise 2. are you clear?ss: yes.t: lets begin.play the tape twice and then check the answers
