Ask them to list four things. Write the following models on the blackboard.Do you like for your birthday? Yes, I like very much./ No, I dont likeUsing the models, students ask and answer questions about the things they have on their lists.Step 2: PresentingT: Amy wants to buy some presents for Simon and Sandy for their coming birthdays. She is making a list of the things that she can buy. Look at the pictures in Part A. Ask and answer questions like this:T: Whats this?/ What are these?S: Its a CD / yo-yo / photo album / music box. Theyre comic books / stickers / hair clips.Teachers help students answer the above questions and teach the new words at the same time.Answers: 1-yo-yo, 2-comic books, 3-stickers, 4-music box, 5-pencil box, 6-hair clips, 7-photo album, 8-CD.Step 3: Reading and answeringT: Daniel also wants to buy a birthday present for Simon. He is asking Millie for help. Read the dialogue in Part B and answer the following questions:What did Millie ask Daniel to buy for Simon at first? Why?What will Daniel buy for him? Why?Step 4: Explaining and readingExplain some language points to students: come up, buy sth. for sb./ buy sb. sth., etc.Ask students to read out the conversation.Step 5: Acting out Ask students to make their own conversations and act them out.Step 6: PresentingT: Daniel has decided to buy Simon a yo-yo. When do you think he can go shopping? (When he is free.) Where can he put his money? (In his pocket/ bag/ wallet, etc.) Hobo wants to go shopping today. Is he going alone?Step 7: Listening and answeringWho does Hobo want to go shopping together? Is Eddie free?Why does hobo want Eddie to go with him?What do you think of Hobo?Step 8: Listening and repeatingAsk students to listen to the tape and repeat sentence by sentence.Step 9: Explaining and readingExplain some language points to students: want sb. to do sth., need sb. to do sth., be free, be busy, etc.Ask students to read the dialogue again.Step 10: Acting outAsk students to act out the dialogue.Step 11: Making a summaryT: In this period, we learned the names of some presents for teenagers. Remember them by heart. Then we talked about what present to buy for a friend.
