Getting students ready for learning (2 mins) step1. Greeting step 2. Routine work with the students on duty reporting the topic step I . Preparing for reading: Draw students, attention as follows (5 mins)Begin with a halftold story: Five travelersMoney, Beauty, wisdom, Hope and Health -are caught in a heavy storm in a small boat, unfortunately, only one of them can survive. Ask students to choose one to stay and continue the story. Students may act out the story instead of telling stories in words.Introduce the topic sentence: When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when hope is lost, all is lost.设计意图:这是本单元第一课时,用故事和活动激发学生的兴趣和思考,对引入话题作好铺垫。Step2. Leading -in (7 mins) Talk about Project Hope to lead in: project Hope has made a great contribution to the education in China. Do you know about it? (Show some pictures related to poor family, rural area, school -age drop- outs, newly-built schools on the screen). (Showing two photos from Su Mingjuan: one from her childhood, one from her college life).
