teaching planbook 2, module 1 our body and healthy habits reading and writing设计老师:海口市第一中学 李能教学年级:高中一年级课题名称:book 2, module 1 our body and healthy habits教材版本:外研版(必修2)模块一 第一课时授课时间:40分钟an analysis of the teaching material this is the first period of this module. it plays an important role in evoking enthusiasm of students towards our body and healthy habits. this reading passage consists of 2 parts. it tells something about zhou kais lifestyle. by reading the passage, the students will train their reading skills, which is very important for senior students. besides, the reading passage will prepare the students for the following tasks like survey and writing, which can help the students know whether their lifestyles are good or not and know the importance of health.description of the students descriptions of studentsage 15-16educationbackgroundhave knowledge of health and lifestyle, which prepare them for the writing task.want to get high mark in writing but poor in writing.lack of vocabulary.motivation/attitudethe majority want to do a good job in learning english. but they are not active in the class because they are afraid of making mistakes. at the same time, they are lack of chances to express themselves and communicate with others, which is bad for language learning.levelmost of the students are intermediate. teaching objectives1. knowledge objectives master the usage of some useful words, phrases and expressions about health condition, eating habits and exercise habits. make sense of the 2 reading passages about zhou kai. learn some proverbs about health. know what healthy life is by reading passages and doing survey.2. ability objectives train the students reading ability by instructing them to apply reading strategies such as fast-reading and careful reading to understand the main idea and get the detailed information. improve the students writing skills by practicing and teaching them some writing strategies. develop the students ability to describe ones lifestyle, including health condition, eating habits and exercise habits. to train the students abilities of studying by themselves and cooperating.3. moral objectives help the students realize the importance of keeping fit. instruct the students to balance health and study. teaching important points1. help the students make sense of the reading passages.2. help the students learn how to describe their lifestyle by applying the knowledge theyve learned in this period. teaching difficult points1. arouse the students interest in taking part in class activities.2. help the students improve their writing skills through practicing and giving instructions. teaching methods1. task-based language teaching2. communicative approach3. student-centered teaching aids: multi-media; blackboard; chalk; learning sheet teaching proceduresstep 1 greeting (1 minute)make a greeting to the whole class.step 2 warming-up (3 minutes)(purpose: get the students know what theyre going to learn in this period; arouse the students interest; review the words and expressions related to health; prepare the students for the following task.)1. introduce the topic of module 1 to the students. our body and healthy habits.2. show the learning objectives of this period to the students.in this period, we are going to understand 2 reading passages.learn how to describe our lifestyle. learn some words, phrases and expressions about body and healthy habits.1. show the pictures of 3 people on the screen. ask the students the following questions to lead the students talk about these peoples health condition, eating habits and exercise habits.can you describe the three people?why is so heavy/ thin? can you guess the reasons?what will happen if we are too heavy or thin? (the teacher writes down the key words, phrases or expressions provided by the students on the blackboard.)step 3 reading1. 1. fast- reading ( 5 minutes)(purpose: help the students get the key information and main idea of the passage through using strategy of fast reading.) zhou kai 1 ask the students to have a look at zhou kai and his mothers photos, then try to guess why zhou kais mother was anxious. ask the students to read through zhou kai 1 and check whether their prediction is right. invite one or two students to share their answers to the question. (possible answer: because he wanted to play football in the rain without a jacket on) zhou kai 2ask the students to read zhou kai 2 quickly and tick the main topics mentioned in zhou kai 2.call back the answers in a whole class setting. (show the answers on the screen)read zhou kai 2 and tick the main topics of zhou kai 2. (more than one topic)school life eating habits health condition classmates exercise habits1. 2. careful reading (8 minutes)(purpose: help the students understand the passage better; train the students ability of seeking needed information; prepare the students for the writing task) give the students 5 minutes to read zhou kai 2 carefully and fill in the following table with information from the text.zhou kais lifestylehealth conditionhe is a healthy /fit boy. he isnt too heavy and never has to diet. he never gets a toothache. he rarely gets colds. but he had a cold and a bit of fever last week because he played football in the rain .unfortunately, he broke his arm 2 years ago.eatinghabitshe is so fit because his mother often makes sure he eats very healthily. the important parts of his diet are fresh fruit and vegetables. he eats fish about 4 times a week. he dislikes eating much fat and sugar. for example, hamburgers, coca cola and chocolate. he always eats fruit instead of sweets because he doesnt have a sweet tooth. exercise habitshe is interested in doing sport. for example, running, swimming and playing football. but his favorite sport is football. he is captain of the class team and a member of the senior high team. he takes at least 6 hours exercise a week. he takes so much exercise that he is very strong.check the answers in different ways and show the answers on the screen.
