They will learn the new words: was, did, went and the past forms of some verbs. Then learn to talk about the activities which happened in the past. Students will learn some activities such as did their homework, played soccer. Then theyll do much listening and oral practice talking about recent past events by using the target language What did you do last weekend? On Saturday morning, I played tennis/-Who visited her grandma?-Becky did.Teaching Methods1. Scene teaching methods.2. Listening and oral practicing methods.3. Work in pairs or groups.Teaching ProceduresStep1. Lead-in1. Greet the students as usual.2. The teacher talked about her activities last weekend. T: On Saturday morning, I played soccer. On Saturday afternoon, I visited my grandparents.3. Then ask the students about their activities in the past. T: What did you do last weekend?Step 2 Presentation 1. Show some pictures to the students. T: Look at the picture. What did he do last weekend?S: He went to the farm last weekend.T: What did he do on Saturday evening?S: He watched TV on Saturday evening.T: What did she do on Sunday morning?S: She went swimming on Sunday morning.T: What did they do on Saturday afternoon?S: They went to the beach on Saturday afternoon.T: What did they do on Sunday evening?S: They had dinner with friends on Sunday evening.Step3. Pair workAsk students to look at these pictures and try to review and preview the activities by themselves.Work in pairs and make dialogues.S1: What did he/she/they do?S2: He/She/theyGive students enough time to do the task. Then ask some pairs to give the presentation.Step 4 Activities1aLet the students to read the phrases in 1a of Section A of Unit12, then match the activities with the pictures (a-f). Finish the teaching task of Part 1a.Check the answers by asking T: Look at the pictures. This is a girl. Her name is Lucy. What did she do in picture a?S: She did her homework.(a, d, e, f, b, c.)Step5. Listening1. Listen and write the day, morning, afternoon or night below each picture2. Ask students to look at the pictures to do the prediction first.If they cant write the full words, they can write part of them first, and then they can finish the full words after listening.3. Play the tape .Let the students only listen for the first time, then play again .This time the students write the day and “morning” “afternoon ” or “night” below each picture. Check the answers, and finish the task of Part 1b.4. Check the answers.Step 6 Activities 1. Ask two students to read the conversation to the class.2. Show the pictures of Lucys activities, Let the students ask and answer in pairs or groups. Step7. Listening(1)T: Please turn to page 68. Look at the sentences in 2a.
