Sa: Yes-T: So what animals do you like?Sa: l like cat.T: yeah, l see. So many people like animals, and so do l. Now l will share a letter with you which was written by a girl after losing her dog. .T: Well, this is the whole letter, what can you learn from the letter?Sb: The girl loves her dog very much.Sc: The families treat their dog as a friend.T: Yeah, you are so intelligent. The most important point is the families treat their dog as a friend. So, that is to say we human-beings can make friends with animals, right?Ss: yes.T: Then what else can be our friends except human-beings and animals?Sd: a pen.Se: a dairy.T: yeah, so we can make friends with anything we like, right? They are unusual friends. So today, we are going to learn a new lesson about an unusual friend-Chucks friend.Step 2: Pre-reading. (3 minutes)1. Give some background of the famous actor-Tom Hanks and his movie “Cast Away”.Tom Hanks born in concord, California, a famous American actor of all times, he has played so many interesting films, such as Splash, Forrest Gump, and Philadelphia-“Cast Away” is a story about a successful managers experience after his air crash. The editor is Robert Zemickis.2. Guess what is Chucks friend? S: a stone? A tree?Step 3: Fast-reading. (3 minutes) Read the whole passage and divide it into 3 parts. Part 1: Introduction- Chucks accident (1) Part 2: DevelopmentChucks life on the island (2-3) Part 3: Conclusion-Friends are teachers. (4)Step 4: Careful reading.(25minutes)1. Read the first paragraph and answer: Who is Chuck? What happens to him? A busy businessman who crashes his plane and lands on an island 2. Enjoy the movie.3. Read the second and the third paragraph and finish the exercises.4. Enjoy the movie about Chuck and Wilson, and then work in groups to discuss: How does Wilson make friends with Wilson? a. By watching the movie, we could understand Chucks feelings living alone on that deserted island, and he makes friends with Wilson thus knows a lot about friendship and himself.
