Language knowledge goal :1) Vocabularies and phrases: newspapers, use, soup, wash, watch TV, talk on the phone, and wash the dishes. 2)Master sentences: What are you doing? Im watching TV. Whats he/she doing? Hes/Shes using the computer. What are they doing? Theyre listening to a CD. 3) Grammar:Present progressive tense4) Talk about what people are doing.2. Emotion aims: To make Ss build interest of learning English, and discover what they are doing in their daily life. Willing to attend activates and cultivate cooperational spirit. Teaching key and difficult points: 1. Key points:1) Usage of words and phrases in present progressive tense2) Simple actions with present progressive tense: cleaning, talking on the phone, watching TV, and making soup 2. Difficult points: Describe what they are doing in their communications correctly. Sub + am/is/are/ +V.ing Teaching procedure:Step 1. Warming-up 1. Greet the Ss and free talk with Ss。T:We are having an English class now. What are we doing now? (Help the students to answer: Were having an English class now.)Step 2. Presentation1. Learn the new words and phrases using some pictures. newspapers, use, soup, wash, watch TV, talk on the phone, and wash the dishes. 2. Show some pictures on the screen and ask some students to perform the actions. e.g. T: What are you doing? S: I am swimming. (Help him/her to answer) T: Look!What is he /she doing? Ss: He /she is watching TV / reading a newspaper. . Teach: reading a newspaper, making soup, watching TV, cleaning, talking on the phone.as the same way. 4. Give Ss some time and try to remember the new words and expressions. Step 3 Work on 1a.Ss read the activities and look at the pictures. Then match the activities with pictures. 6. Check the answers with Ss. Step 4 work on 1b. Listening 1. T: What are Jenny, John, Dave and Mary doing? Now lets listen to the tape, find out the right activities from 1a. 2. Play the recording for the Ss twice.3. Ss listen to the recording and write the numbers from 1a. Step 5 Pair work (1c) 1.First ask and answer questions about what people are doing in 1a. A: Whats he doing? B: Hes using the computer.Then do an action and ask:A: What are you doing? B: Im listening to a CD. What is he /she doing? What are they doing ?2. Ss make conversations by themselves and practice the conversations. Step 6 summarize.1. What can you find?What is she doing? She is doing homework.What are you doing? I am running.What are they doing? They are making soup.2. Explain the Present Progressive Tense.Step 7 Work on 2a & 2b .1.T: Please turn to page 32. Look at the sentences in 2a. Read them aloud.2.
