Greeting and Lead-in1.Greeting.T: Class begin.S: Stand up.T: Good afternoon, class.Ss: Good afternoon, Mr. Meng.T: Sit down, please.Ss: Thank you.2.Get the students to look out of the windows and ask “How is the weather ?” Help the students to answer “ Its sunny.”3. Play a video about the weather and let the students enjoy it. Step 2. Presentation1. Show some picturesT: Whats this in English? ( Its the sun.)2. Then show some other pictures.T: Hows the weather ?Ss: Its sunny.(In the same way, finish teaching the words “sun, cloud, wind, rain, snow ,windy, cloudy, raining, snowing”)3. Show a slide on the screen and get the students to say weather words about different signs. Then say the different words on the other slide.Step 3 Play a song Let Ss try to find the answers to the two questions. How many kinds of weather are there in the song?What are they?Step 4 Matching 1aLet the students to look at pictures in 1a and match the words with the pictures a-e. Check the answers.Step 5. ListeningPlay the tape for the students to listen and write these city names in the boxes above.(Before listening, show pictures of the five cities and teach the places. Get Ss to familiar with these places.Step 6.Play games and practiceT: Lets play games in pairs . One student ask how the weather is and the other student answer. The students who answer correctly are winners.2.Show the two sentences on the screen and tell the students the two sentences have the same meaning. Have them practice according to the other pictures.How is the weather in ?=What is the weather like in ?1. Explore rules.Get the students to read the words and find out rules.Step 6. Pair work1c. Imagine you are in one of the places. Talk about the weather with your partner on the phone.A: Hi! Hows the weather in the Beijing?B: Its sunny.Step 7.Pairwork Show a chart on the screen. Ask Ss to talk about the weather in some cities in the world in pairs . Then get students to report the weather. Let some students to give the weather report.Report: Hello! This is a weather report for today. Beijing is sunny. Its rainy in Toronto. London is . Thank you.Step 8 SummaryT:. Today, we have learnt something about weather. Hows the weather? 天气怎么样?1) 后可接时间、地点。如:Hows the weather today? 今天天气怎么样?Hows the weather in jieshou? 界首天气怎么样?2) 回答用“Its + 天气”, 如: -Hows the weather today? -Its sunny/cloudy. 2. 名词+y形容词 1) windwindy cloudcloudy sunsunny rainrainy fogfoggy snowsnowy 这几组表天气的词都是“名词+y = 形容词”。2) snow 名词 “雪”;动词 “下雪”。 其形容词为snowy. “下雪了”可说: Its snowing. 或 Its snowy.3.How is the weather in ?=What is the weather like in ?sunny. cloudy.
