Lead the students to read after me and know about the pronounciation of the words and phrases. Step 3. While reading. (22min)1. Skimming (3min)Task 1: 1) Help the students to understand what “skim” means and then ask them to skim the two letters and find out the answers.Then summarize the reading strategy of skimming:Read the first sentence in each paragragh to get the main idea.2. Scanning. (4min) Task 2: 1) Help them understand what “scan” means. Then ask them to scan the two letters and check true or false.2) Ask Ss to correct the sentences.3. Detailed reading. (11min)Task 3: 1) Let Ss find the words in the letters and underline the sentences.2) Show the reading skills and set an example for them. 3) Let them know how to guess the meaning of the words. 4) Ask Ss to match the words or phrases with the correct meanings.5) Help them to summarize the reading strategy: Read the sentences before and after it to guess the meaning. Its a good way to understand the passage more. Task 4: 1) Ask the students to read the letters carefully again and find more details. 2) Let one student read the first letter and ask Ss to find out what are sad and thirteens problems? Fill in the chart.3) Listen to the tape and ask Ss to find out what are Mr. Hunts advice? Fill in the chart.4. Consolidation of the phrases and the sentences. (4min)1) Ask one of each group to translate them into English and read aloud one by one. 2) Help them to memorize the phrases and sentences by playing a game.Step 4 Post-reading (6min)1. Role-play: 1) Let Ss make a dialogue by using the sentences in the first letter.2) Let two students play the roles.3) Ask Ss how to deal with the problem. Let them discuss in group of six.4) Each group choose one student to show
