文档简介

.1. Is tearing up textbooks a good way to relieve stress?Just before the Chinese national college entrance examination on June 7, many high school seniors tore up their textbooks and test papers to release some of that pent-up pressure. Excerpt oneThese students have spent many years in boring classrooms for very long hours, plus homework. thereby having too little valuable time with family or in social situations. Many students say to me we have no life. It is not surprising that these students explode steam as soon as the pressure cooker lid is released. So why is tearing up old text books so bad?Excerpt twoThe books can be expensive and there is always the opportunity to re-sell, or the same books used for neighbors/siblings. One poetry book I used at school is still being used, and as mine was in good condition, I sold it. My parents even have some of their old school books, and also from my grandparents time. They are a record of the memories made at the time.2.Should college students be encouraged to start businesses before graduation?According to a newly-amended Ministry of Education regulation, college students who have started their studies can apply for leave for several semesters and their period of schooling can be extended. Its a huge step to encourage students to start their own businesses while at university. However, some people doubt whether the regulation will have an effect on students grades or performance. Should college students be encouraged to start businesses before graduation?Excerpt oneIn principle I think this is good development.Education should not be just about reading books and taking tests, and idea of lifelong learning should not be only about older employees learning new things in their work, but the other way too. Also students can be more naive (in the positive sense) and open minded than older entrepreneurs, and they could put Chinas reforms related to business environment to different kind of test than older generations, which can benefit the whole society.Excerpt two Being a college student is a full time job in and of itself - consider these hours for someone taking 15 credits. Actual Class time 15 hours a week. Study time 2-3 hours per hour of class 38 hours a week. Travel to class say even 15 minutes 3 classes a day 45 minutes or 4 hours a week. Sleep 8 hours a day 56 hours a week. Eating 3 meals a day at a dining hall so there is no meal prep time and you are a quick eater so 1.5 Hours a day or 11 hours a week. Exercise 7 hours a week. That totals 155 hours. 7 days have 168 hours. That leaves you 13 hours a week. Over 95% of startups fail with the founders working full time to make them go. How are you
