Unit 7 Its raining.Teaching goalsKnowledge goals:1. To learn the adjective words about weather: sunny, rainy,windy,snowy,cloudy.2. To master the sentence structures: - Hows the weather (in + 地名)?/ Whats the weather like (in + 地名)? - Its sunny/rainy/windy/snowy/cloudy.Ability goals:Be able to learn to use the words and sentence to talk about the weather.Emotional goals:1. To know some geography knowledge through talking about the weather.2. To cultivate students consciousness of unity and cooperation through working in groups.Important points1. The vocabularies to describe the weather: sunny, rainy,windy,snowy,cloudy2. The sentence structures: -What is the weather like in .?/ How is the weather in.? -Its rainy/raining. Difficult points To change the nouns to adjectives:sun-sunny,rain-rainy,wind-windy,cloud-cloudy. Teaching tools Blackboard, a brief draw and the multimedia teaching equipment.Teaching stepsStep Warm-up1. Greetings.2. Lead in. Play the song Rhythm of the Rain to lead into the new class.Ask the students to find out what the weather like in this song. Ask the students what other words about the weather they know.Step Learn the new words 1. Lead out the center word weather, and around it to have a simple drawing about the new words:sunny,rainy,windy,snowy,cloudy.2. Lead them to read the words,then ask one or two students to read them and correct the pronunciation if there is any.3. Learn the new words about nouns and adjectives on the screen.3.Learn some weather signs.4. Find the rules about how to change nouns to adjectives. n.+yadj. cloudcloudy, rainrainy.5.Have a game “QUICK EYES” to remember the words.Step Presentation1. Watch a simple video about how to ask weather and lead out the sentences: How is the weather?= Whats the weather like? Its + adj./v.-ing.2. Use some pictures to practice the sentences. Step Pair work 1. Ask the students to look at the pictures about weather on the screen.2. Give them some minutes to practice the dialogue with their partner.3. Walk around the classroom to offer help if they need.4. Invite five pairs to act their conversations for the whole class.Step Game time 1. Go through the city names and lead the students to read them.2. Play a chain game to talk about the weather in these cities to consolidate the main sentence structures.The first student ask the second one how is the weather in Toronto,and the second one answer it and then continue to ask the next one the next city,and so on.3. Ask two groups to have a match to play the game, and the group who spend the least time is the winner.4. Leave them five minutes to prepare it,and walk around the room to offer help.Step PracticeActivity 1b1.Ask the students to listen to the different conversations which is about the weather in a different city,and write the city names in the boxes.2.Play the recording the first time.Students only listen.3.Play the recording a second time.Students finish it.4.Check the answers.Activity 1c1. Lead them to read the example conversation in the box.2. Put them into pairs to ask and answer like this: -Whats the weather like in picture a?/Hows the weather in Picture a? -Its raining/rainy.3. Give them several minutes to practice the sentence structure. Step Consolidation 1. Lead the students to have a try to be a weather broadcaster to report the weather of Yunnan province according to the map.2. Have a summary of this period.3. Do some exercises.Step Homework1. Recite the main words and sentences in this period.2. P
