Unit 7 Its raining.Section A 1a-1cThe analysis of teaching material The topic of this period is about describing the weather, which is relatively simple for Ss. Listening material in this teaching period is dealing with the words and sentence patterns expressing the weather. The words expressing the weather is relatively easy while putting the sentence pattern into practice is a little difficult. So activating Ss prior knowledge is a must to motivate Ss learning interest. From whats known to whats unknown, Ss have to be provided with enough time to get what they want through listening and memorizing. Besides, learning by doing should be focused on, so speaking and listening activities will be designed to encourage Ss to explore all the useful information while at the same time enjoying the process of English learning.The analysis of Ss English learning for Ss is not only a simple language learning, but also a multi-cultural input. Ss of junior one have learned some Chinese poems about the weather. So starting the class by reading some poems will be a good way to lead in the new lesson. Then Ss will be led to do a serious of tasks to learn the new lesson. Use a world map to locate the five cities and read the cities together.2. Ss listen and put the weather stickers in the right places.3. Ss listen again and fill in the blanks.4. Ss read the underlined sentences together and find the sentence patterns about the weather.5. Ss make conversations about the weather in the above five cities with the following sentence patternsHows the weather in .?Its .Step 3 Weather & Us1. Ss watch a micro-lesson of the teachers weather report about Beijing, Shanghai, Boston, Toronto, and Moscow.2. Ss are divided into six parts, each of which has different four cities on their task sheets. Group one has the cities in south China, group two has the cities in north China, group three has the cities in west China, group four has the cities in east China, group five has the cities in the middle of China, and group six has the cities in Suzhou. They will make a weather report of the cities on their task sheets based on the example given on PPT.3.
