Unit 5 Why do you like pandas? Section A (1a-1c). Teaching aims: 1. knowledge objectives:1) new words:tiger, elephant, panda, lion, koala, giraffe, cute, lazy, smart, beautiful, scary, kind, kind of, Australia, south, Africa, South Africa, pet, leg, cat, sleep 2) sentence structures: What animals do you/does she/ does he like? Lets see the ? Why do you/does she/ does he want to see ? Because they are . 2. ability objectives: 1) To observe and describe animals.2)To talk about their preferences 3) To know the implied meaning of some animals3. emotion,attitude and value:We are living with animals on the earth,and animals are our friends. We are supposed to live with animals in a harmonious way. We ought to learn to care for and protect animals. Teaching points:1. key points:1) be able to describe the characteristics of animals, using some new adjectives. 2) be able to show preferences for some animals and give reasons as well.2. difficult points:1)the plural form of a noun to show things of the same kind;2)the third person singular form. Teaching procedures:Step 1. Warming-up and lead in I like animals, Do you like animals?Do you want to see some animals pictures Step 2. Presentation1. Then show the class some pictures of animals and present animals. And ask them: Whats this in English? Its a tiger. (Then lion, panda, elephant, koala, giraffe) Ss look at the picture and try to remember the new words of the animals. Teach the new words one by one .2. Next, ask students to turn to page 25 and finish 1a.3. Check the answers with the class. Step 3. Game (Guessing game.)T: Show some pictures on the big screen. Let Ss guess what animal it is from Group One to Group Nine. Ss try to guess and remember the names of the animals. Step 4. Listening Work on 1b. Tell Ss to listen to the tape and check the animals they hear in 1a. Play the recording again and check the answers with the class. Step 5. Pair work 1. Ask two students to read the conversation in 1c to the class. Lets see the lions first. Why? (why do you /does she /does he like lions?) Because they are interesting. 2. Ss practice the conversation in pairs.3. Invite some pairs to show their conversations in class.Step 6. Role-play 3. Ss work in groups of two/three/four and practice the conversation.4. Let some pairs role-play the conversation. Step 7.ExerciseShow nine questions on the screen and ask nine students(one group one student) to answer these questions.Step 8. Summary & Homework: Ask one or two students make a short summary for this lesson.Play a short video for students about protecting animals and wish everyone can love animals love world.Homework: 1. Remember the new words and expressions in this period. 2. Role-play the conversation after class. 3. Write the animals names as many as possible in the exercises book.
