Unit 9 What does he look like?Period one I Analysis of Teaching Material and Learners Its the first lesson of unit 9. In the unit, students are going to learn how to describe ones appearance. They will learn some main sentence structures, such as: what does he/she look like? He/ She is tall. He/ She has long straight brown hair.II Teaching Aims Knowledge Aims:1. Words and expressions: hair, curly, straight, height, tall, thin, medium, heavy, build.2. Sentences: What does he/she look like? He/ She is tall and has long hair.Ability Aims:1. Students can read the words and sentences.2. Students can listen to the blanks.3. Students can describe ones appearance simply.III Importance and Difficulties 1. Words and expressions2. Students can describe ones appearance.IV Procedures Step 1 Lead in 1. Greetings as usual.2. Daily report. 3. Play a game: I say you touch.Step 2 Presentation and practice 1. Look at the pictures and learn words and phrases.E.g. short hair; long hair; He has short hair. She has long hair.2. Practice: teacher asks students answer.What does he look like? He has short curly hair. 3. Practice by girls and boys.4. Students ask or answer one by one.5. Pair work: students try to describe themselves with partners using new words they have learned just now.Step 3 Work on 1a.1. Students finish 1a and check the answers.Step 4 work on 1b1. Read the conversations in pictures in 1a.2. Listen to the blanks.3. Listen again and check the answers.4. Read the full conversation.Step 5 Work on 1c1. Students work in pairs to make conversations according to 1a.2. Students share their conversations.Step 6 Work on 2a & 2b 1. Read the question and listen to the questions.2. Listen again and finish 2b.Step 7 Work on 2d1. Role-play the conversation.2. Read the conversation together.3.
