Knowledge objects:1.Function: To learn to talk about problems and give advice.2.Key vocabulary: allow, wrong, guess, allow sb to do sth, get into a fight with.3.Target language: Whats wrong with you? I have too much homework.Why dont you talk with your teachers?You should call him up.You could say you are sorry.4. Structure: Why dont you .? Why not .? Youd better . Modal verbs: “could” and “should” II. Ability objects:1.To be able to talk about their own problems.2.To be able to give proper advice to others.III. Moral objects:1.To learn to think of themselves and care for others through discussing problems together.2.To develop the spirit of coorperation and their optimistic attitude.Teaching Key Points:Learn to talk about problems by using the key vocabulary. And give advice by using the target language.Teching Difficult Points:1. To give or choose different advice for a problem.2.To use “should” and “could”correctly.Teaching Methods:1. communicative approach2. situational teaching approach3. task-based language teaching 4.the gaming teaching methodTeaching Aids:CAI paper picturesTeaching Procedures:Step 1 OrganizationMake free talk with students and introduce myself.Purpose: to first get into touch with students, let them be familiar with my pronunciation and get ready to learn.Step 2 Warming up1. Make a free talk with students about some special pictures which are used to test mental stress.2. Do the small quiz “score your life” together. Let them think about their lives. Then lead to the topic “Whats wrong with you?” Purpose:1. To catch students attention and the interests about the topics.4.To lead to the topic naturally and let students themselves talk about their problems.Step 3 Presentation and Listening1. With going through the small quiz, students tell me their problems naturally.T: Whats wrong with you? S: I have too much homework so I cant enjoy my hobbies.2. Meanwhile, write some useful phrases on the blackboard.3. After dealing with the vocabulary, read the sentences together.4. So today well learn to deal with our problems. Lets listen to 1b. For the first time, fill in the blank with the words you hear( the task I made by myself). For the second time, lets do a small competition to see who can get some sentences quickly which we can use to give advice. “Once you find one, shout Got it!” Pause, write down the sentences.5. Let students read the sentences together, point out the sentence structure.6. Extension: Why not.? You should. You could. Youd better. What about/ How about.?Purpose:1. To do the vocabulary teaching and sentence teaching. 2. By teaching target langusge in listening, I can train students listening skills better and let them feel interesting. This is a kind of ability promoting.3. Get the preperation for the next steps.Step4 Practice: pairworkMake a guessing game. Play the picture fast, then let them guess what is wrong with them.Make conversations with partners. Then, get students to think over the questions “What are the differences between should and could?”Purpose: This is a kind of revision and practice. It can not only make it interesting to practice but also let students get familiar with what they are going to do. And get ready for the next step. Step5 ListeningLets listen, try your best to fill in blanks with should or could.Check the answer. Explain should and could (ask students to do it first)Listen again, finish 2b. Check the answer.Purpose: Let students learn to use should and could correctly and know how to express when they dont like the advice.Step6 ExtensionAccording to the role, read 2d.Then let students answer my questions to see if they are clear about the function of each sentence.Then make their own conversations.How to ask problems:Whats Kims problem:How does Kim ask for help:How does Dave give advice:How to thank others advice:Purpose:Again review what we have learnt and make it easy for them to role play. This is a part of language out-putting. It can show if the students master the target language after learning.Step7 SummarySummarize the target language and vocabulary.How to talk about problems:How to give advice:Step8 HomeworkRecite 2d and make a similar conversation.Life is sweet, life is bitter, life can be all flavors!
