Students can recognize, listen and read the following words & phrases: newspaper, read a newspaper, talk on the phone, use, soup, make soup, wash, movie, go to the movies, etc.2. Students can apply What questions of present progressive tense: What are you doing? -I am + v-ing ; What is he/she doing? -He/She is + v-ing ; What are they doing? -They are + v-ing Ability objectives:1. Students can recognize the structure and What questions of present progressive tense; 2. Students can describe what people are doing by applying the learned sentence structures;3. To listen, read and spell the following new words & phrases: newspaper, read a newspaper, use, make soup, wash, go to the movies.2. Apply the following main structures to ask and answer: “What are you doing? I am+ v-ing; What is he/she doing? He/ he is+ v-ing; What are they doing? They are + v-ing.”3. Improve listening skills. Warming-up 1. Greeting the students.2. Watch a video and see what things they are singing. (After playing, T: what can you here in the video? There are five sentences, can you tell me what they are? -S: What are you doing?/ Im watching TV/ Im cooking/ Im eating/ Im washing my hands)The lovely video aims to activate the class , arouse students interest and lead the basic perception of the content to learn Step II. Presentation(7mins)1. T: Everyday we do many kinds of things, lets see what we are doing at sometimes. (show some pictures of everyday activities on the screen) (What are you doing?)S: Im watching TV/drawing pictures/cleaning/and reading a newspaper.T: Now, lets see what the girls are doing? (Whats she doing?)S: Shes singing/dancing/ running/listening to a CD.(Show more pictures) Whats he doing?S: Hes talking on the phone/using the computer/going to the movies/washing the dishes.T: Great! Then how about them? What are they doing? S: They are listening to music/dancing/making soup.2. Emphasize the new words, phrases and present the key structures. Teacher writes down the key sentences on blackboard. While finishing the sentences, teacher emphasizes the new words and phrases which have been written on the blackboard before (such as: newspaper, read a newspaper, movie, go to the movies, wash, wash the dishes/ clothes, use, use a computer, etc.) Students read the new words and phrases following the teacher to practice pronunciation.3. Finish 1a.1) Ask the students to look at the picture on P31 and match the activities with the pictures.T: Here is a busy apartment, everybody is doing his own things. Lets see what is he or she doing. Look at the picture in 1a. Some new words and phrases are on the left and activities are marked with a, b, cand i, please match the words with activities in the picture.2) Check the answers.T: OK, who would like to show your answers? We need two volunteers (S1 checks number2 to five; S2 finishes number 6 to 9).1. Students are familiar with those activities and they are interested to express those in English;2. After lots of input sentences, students will feel easy to master the new words & phrases.Step III. Listening drills(2mins)1. Next well hear a conversation about everyday activities. The recording will be played 2 times. For the first time, listen carefully and write the numbers from 1a.2. Check the answers.3. For the second time, listen and repeat, pay attention to the rising or falling tones of different sentences.Listening and repeat aims to improve students listening skills and spoken English. Step IV. Activity & Listening practice.(10mins)Task1. Better Eyes.T: Now look at the pictures quickly; tell me what the people are doing as quickly as you can. Lets see who has the better eyes? Are you ready?S: Yes!T: OK, here we go!(Students apply present progressive tense to answer questions and practicing the new words and phrases.)Task2. Listening 2a.Steve and Jack are talking on the phone, lets see what they are talking about.1. Guide students to understand the requirements of 2a;2. Play the recording, students match the answers with the questions.3. Invite one student to check answers.Task3: Listening 2b.1. Play the recording again, students fill in the blanks.2. Invite one student to check answers.3. Listen again and try to repeat the recording.1.The competition atmosphere aims to stimulate students enthusiasm;2.Finding the “actors” are themselves, students will be excited and interested to talk about the activities;3.The second-time input prompts students to finish the listening easily.Step V. Group-work.(15mins)1. Get the students work in a group of four, four(one question-master提问者, one or two actors, the other one or two students guess what he/she is doing) The question master can use these sentences to ask :What is he/she doing? -He/She is + V-ing What are they doing? -Theyre + V-ing 2. Devide students into two groups, each group chooses four volunteers to the front and show their own conversation. (Attention: each group has only 2mins, you can only speak in English!)The group who cooperates better , act and guess more will be the winner! Eg: Question master: What is he/she doing? - Ss in group two: He/She is running/ watching TV/ washing the dishes.What are they doing? - They are cleaning the classroom1. Students are passionate with
