Difficult points: how to use is/have/has to describe peoples looksTeaching aidsPPT and a songTeaching proceduresStep 1 Warming-up and leading-in1.Greetings2.Play a song of Hanhongs Tianlu,then show a picure of her and ask:what does she look like. 3.Tell the students that we are going to learn how to describe ones look.(from three aspects: height, build and hair)Step 2 Presentation 1.Learn the new wordsLearn the words about height: tall, short, medium height and the sentence pattern: What does he look like?He is tall/He is short/He is of medium height by talking about the pictures.Learn the words about build: heavy, thin, medium build and the sentence pattern: What does he look like?He is heavy/thin/of medium build by talking about the pictures.Learn the words about hair: long hair, short hair, straight hair, curly hair by finding the differences and help them sum up how to describe hair.2.Let student try to sum up when to us be/have/has to describe peoples looks3.Show some pictures,students say out what he or she looks like as quickly as they can. 4.Check students awareness of the new words by matching the pictures with the words in 1a. Students then read the difficult worlds: of medium height, of medium build, curly, straight. Step 3 Listening1.Teacher shows Amys photo and ask: What does Amy look like? And what do the other people in the picture look like ? 2.Teacher helps students understand the listening background: Amy is talking about her friend.3. Listen and fill in the blanks. 4.Check the answer and find Amys friend.Step 4 practiceTask1 Play a game. Choose a number and do the task after itTask2 Pair work .Six in a group.Two of them make a conversation to talk about one of the students in their group .Other groups can guess who he/she is.Teacher helps the students to say more other possible worlds to describe peoples look: nose/mouth/ear/eyes /face .E.g-What does your friend look like ?-He /She is/has .-Is he/she ./Does he/she have.-Yes,./No,.Step 5 SummaryWords: tall /of medium height /short /thin /of medium build /heavy long / short hair/ straight /curly hairSentences: What does she/he look like?She/He is .She/He has.Step 6 Homework1.Remember the new words and the sentence patterns.2.Try to describe your father or your mother and write it down on the paper.Board design-What does he/she look like?-H
